With winter fast approaching in North America (and some of Europe), short smokes will start becoming the norm unless you are lucky enough to have an understanding significant other who let's you smoke indoors ?

With lounges being closed because of Covid, it makes it even more important to have some shorter smokes on hand.

What's your go to short smoke (30-45mins)

Petit Edmundo and Medio Siglos for me. Both have great flavor profiles and can handle being smoked quickly or stretched out if you want to without impacting performance. I’ve also been lucky to have consistently good quality construction on both.

It's kind of funny but where I'm located I can't wait for winter to arrive so I can start back on the larger sizes ?

My summer....your winter

Partagas shorts

Mille fleurs

Hup half corona

Monte media corona

These are some that get the torch all summer long here.

Lots of good options. Another is to get a patio heater. I picked up one at Costco for 109. Propane tanks lasts 10 hours on high and costs about $25 to refill, so $2.50/hour operating costs. I actually bought two so I could have a buddy over, socially distant in the winter and get some heat. We will see in a few months if the investment pays off to allow a longer season.

as to winter sticks, I tend toward the PC so I also have a wide variety of minutos and short robustos. Lots of value out there in the quick cigar.

'Cuz I am a man, what wears pants - I'll smoke a churchill and laugh at the weather....

Cold, wind, no sun - no cigar.

Cold (~ 30'f, sub 40'f), no wind, sunny - any perla or minuto

Cold (40'f+ ), no wind, sunny - opens up sizes just a little bit.

I've a little corner in the back of my house that gets the sun in the winter and can help block the breeze, so I can go slightly larger, but won't go past enjoyment to reach smoke just to smoke.

$29 insulated bib overalls  I also have the matching jacket for hunting larger cigars by my outdoor fire  the “ensemble”, like a classic French “Le smoking” stays in the garage

Winter does not need to limit you

I bought a buddy a pair of these bibs on sale a few years ago so 1) I wouldn’t look quite as silly alone and 2) to have someone who would smoke w me in the cold

There's cold and then there's our Canadian winters. No matter how you dress being out in -20C / -4F is not fun so the less time you are out there the better.

I'm actually not that uncomfortable in the cold, it's really just my hands that are freezing. None of my gloves are that great for smoking, so I'm always switching hands trying to keep my hands from freezing (glove on one hand, cigar in the other, and switch every 5-10 minutes). If I can find a warm glove that I can wear and comfortably hold a cigar I'll be golden.

Ya i get you. It's not generally uncomfortable but more unpleasant for me. Like i'll shovel snow for hours without issue but i guess with cigars i just like to take my time and relax which i can't do when it's either extreme, extremely cold or extremely hot and humid.

I use glove liners (with no gloves) for the hand holding the cigar if it is really cold out--since I smoke in the garage (so wind chill is not a factor) they will do the job most of the time.

Yep...we get out of here as much as possible June July Aug Sept.  In a few more years for a month or better at a time is the plan. ?

I hate winter. I don't do cold. And I don't do windy. Especially in the winter! If it's around 8-10°C and no wind can be nice. Got me an electric patio heater, might invest in a second.

Ive a box n half of SP NP 2007/8, Party shorts, hdm PR, petite no.2, petite jlp cazadores, short Churchill all with a few years on them. Been collecting these just for winter time. Should last a while! As I don't enjoy a cigar in the cold.

Kudos to those who can.

I need to take a winter vaca.... Oh wait... ?

I know I'll go visit a lounge! I'll get the tube... No. I'll ride! In the winter rains!? ?

PLPC

Monte 4

Listing marevas is an edge case for me calling them "quick" smokes, as they take me 45 minutes to an hour to smoke.

Winter is no restriction for me, as I am a single man and I can smoke indoors in my workshop whenever I please! I do keep it out of the main house, for my own benefit. ?

Unless you can endure the harsh windy cold weather while puffing long CCs like Partagas Lusitanias, I'd strongly recommend you to puff short smokes like Partagas Shorts, HUHC, CoShorts.

I puffed Partagas Lusitanias at cold windy weather during Aussie Virtual Herf on the street. The result was extremely horrible, since I was not only dying from harsh windy weather but also experienced constant going out (even torch lighters suffered from that hellish weather too). I'm sure folks who were in Aussie Virtual Herf still remember my hysterical moments LOL ?
