This weekend, thanks to a great suggestion from @Silverstix, we've got a variation to the theme... :spotlight: Post up a review of any cigar that is "New To You" - i.e. one you've never smoked before. This is a great motivator to get into a box that you've been resting or just haven't tried yet due to old faithfuls taking precedence, etc., or maybe it's a box or sampler you've just gotten in... whatever the case, now's the time to break the duck on that particular cigar - post up your review using the format below and go into a draw for an El Pres selected box!!

  1. Start a new thread in the Waterhole.
  2. Use this format:  Quai d'Orsay 54 TRY DEC 18 (NTYRW)
  3. Add a photo or two...
  4. A detailed review + score it in your own way.

If you don't have a date code, give us a year.

To be drawn Wednesday local time!

Have a fantastic weekend

Okay, I’ll need some kind of English language translation for this one....

Budgie Smuggler?  Yeah, I get that one, but I’ll be damned if I can figure why it’s called “breaking the duck”.

      * YAAY!! YAAY!! YAAAAYYY!!! I FINALLY got me a Quay D'Orsay No.50 - along with a Por Larranaga Monte Carlo (which I've had before), a Partagas No.4 (also had before)...but my coverage is of the Q'Dorsay No.50! It was exquisitely refined: sweet and cool to the tongue. Lasted in flavor and taste down to the nub. I savored this flavor bomb for about 55min. I'm sooooo glad I can FINALLY say that I've enjoyed what I'm sure many of us on this forum keep missing out on - because it sells out so freakin' fast...that and the No. 54. I presume it's from no earlier than a 2019 year - although my supplier is pretty good about having VERY well aged selections. I definitely will be trying this again - when, if and however I can obtain it - this was a pure fluke right here. A score of 96 for me here   :cigar:

A 'duck' in cricket is when the batsman is out with no score. Generalised in the English speaking world to mean not having something you've tried for. Eg I went out on the pull last night but scored a duck. However, if, after some time and a few attempts a result is obtained then that's called breaking a duck. Eg I pulled the spotty barmaid with the wonky eyes last night and broke my duck.In this case it's a bit of a stretch but means trying a cigar you've got but haven't had before. Eg Afterwards she gave me a Bolivar Soberanos and I broke my duck on that too.

Glad to be of assistance. All examples above are purely hypothetical....

@MoeFOH, would a custom roll count?   I’ve been looking at one in my humi for near two years now.   Might have to reach for it....

Go for it!
