Seems to me there is lots of value in that business so I am surprised he didn’t sell it with an agreement to stay on for a year to help with the transition. That would benefit him, his staff and a new owner that may share his same passion but need a solid start.

When I picked up my Aristocrat at Bob’s shop last summer, he definitely didn’t seem like he was anywhere near retirement.  In fact, I asked him specifically about it and he said, “I’ll retire when it

The cigar gods have always been good to me...decided to get myself a nice Christmas present this year...what lucky timing I had

Still is a god...

And yeah the guy doesn't even smoke cigars. Which I found quite ironic.

Hopefully there is someone to fill his shoes and carry the mantle. There are a ton of talented wood workers out there. But these humidors are a niche product.

2,500 I bet

So an average of 7.7 humidors per month for 27 years. That seems doable, but that's insane. Too bad he didn't number them all. Could be like collecting ER boxes hahahaha

I don’t know. With the amount of craft,a ship that goes into his units, 7.7 units a month is a lot. I’m into mature woodworking and I don’t think I could build one a month. But then again, the more ya make, the faster ya get. Not too mention the quality increases. Sad to see him go.

Very sad indeed. As others have said, this was a bucket list item for me as well. Even though they are hella expensive, I was planning to get a THC model and some point in the future. They are really beautiful cabinets. I can only imagine the resale market prices will go up. Are there any other alternative cabinet makers? Seems like there was at least one other company I just can't think of it off the top of my head...

I have an Avallo.  It's dimensions are something like 24x24x30.

Built solid and holds RH well.  You will not be disappointed.

Effective 1/18/19  We are not taking any new orders for Aristocrat Cabinet Humidors. We are not going out of business.

could it be that someone someday continues his busines?

Maybe, maybe not. I was told that they will only be selling the humidifiers from now on. But who knows for sure.

So, what's happening with his shop?  Is he just shuttering the doors?  Would be a good business for an employee to take over.

Vigilant also makes custom cabinets with high quality systems.

I showed the wife a few of these rigs, to help "promote understanding" how much less I am in to cigars than some folks.  That still didn't help me too much with the credit card bill this month.  Anyway, thanks for sharing the pics!

Congrats to Bob on his retirement, well deserved! Big loss to the community though.

I have an older one that I purchased in 2013. I was going to buy a newer one since somethings have changed and I wanted a temp control unit, but alas Bob saved me money can't complain.

Those who have one but want larger. Simply find a great cabinet maker and allow them to see your Aristocrat as a template. That’s what I’ll do.06a08d89a95cb3f37388b2618338dd6e.jpg
