Jesus! I wonder how long it will be before HSA sell out to the point where they serve up their cigars in happy meal bags.

Is this actually a joke?

Seen on the secondary for $320 which is on par with RE Canada.

The naming gets better and better :jester:

Also - I've never seen advertisements for a new RE release - that's new!

Yeah, I found that interesting as well, and thought perhaps it might be a spoof. But a quick check of the Habanos site shows it to be legit. You know, in giving it a little thought, I guess it'd be easy enough to dismiss the ads, but really, I'm actually glad to see more cigar ads than fewer.

I dont get it, if HSA seems to be so desperate to appeal to the American market, why doesn't it just use the Malboro Man, to advertise some Especiales!!.

The adverts look cheaply done but I would have thought that they were created by Phoenicia rather than HSA. Why would HSA create adverts to sell REs for Phoenicia? Those cigars are bought and paid for by the distributor, HSA get paid whether they sell or not.
Although I'm no fan of the ring gauge, it must be what sells. I will be heading to Beirut in the new year and the price isn't too awful at $200 for a box of 10. Maybe I'll pick some up to try.

Colt, I agree myself - considering how tightly controlled Cigar Adverts are these days, if you're in a market where they are fair game, it is nice to see them out there.  Even if they seem a little hokey.

Probably because many of the Marlboro men died of cigarette-related diseases......:hole:

They've already called an H. Upmann regular production cigar 'Magnum' essentially naming it after an American condom product or handgun. So why not call a Diplomatico Ammunition?

Magnum, from the Latin for 'great'

Well, to be fair the word magnum is defined as great or of great power. So it's not that goofy to name a cigar that.

Ammunition, however--now that's the dumbest name Cuba's ever given a cigar. I mean, huh?

Too bad the Phonecia releases are typically highly sought after and very well received. They may be collectible due to the fact no one would otherwise believe that is a real name for a Cuban cigar.

The leathery skin and thinning hair of the guy in the second ad is enough to scare off potential new smokers. That man is probably 36 and looks like the most interesting man in the world.

Goes to prove... just because you happen to own the worlds largest distributorship of Cuban cigars does not mean you have an ounce of sense, or taste for that matter.

I think they are selling the wrong products here!

Piggy's version...

Habanos is no longer a sensory product (taste, smell, etc.)... they are pushing it as a lifestyle and image product

Another win for the poo covered hands of Mr Edward Bernays, and his life's work to turn the world into an overflowing toilet of gimmick over quality

" when/where is that last time that you’ve heard Magnum used to refer to something as ‘great.’"

this use of "great " refers to its meaning as large, strong, solid, formidable.

Great Britain,Great Wall of China,etc.

Magnum Opus.

Charlemagne = Carolus magnus.

Dude was supposedly between 4 and 8 inches taller than the average male in the low middle ages. Also had a continent wide empire... so that might have influenced it...

I just like to talk about Charlemagne, thank you for giving me a paper thin opportunity, sorry for the derail.

When I first heard of the HU Magnum, I thought of those huge bottles of champagne,

The Champagne region of France is not all that far from Liège, which is one of the possible place of birth of Charlemagne. (Sorry)

This Ammunition advertising makes me one to buy a box and just chuck it in the river.)

It could be good, could be bad, but it's so obnoxious......
