Hello,

Need your help with this one. I am planning a trip with my wife to Las Vegas. Want to have a nice outdoor pool so we can relax and enjoy the sun and while she shops, I want to enjoy a few nice cigars at a lounge or sports book.

Looking for some suggestions for a Vegas hotel with nice amenities, cigar lounges, sports book and shopping

Thanks in advance.

Caesar's Palace was accommodating to cigars when I stayed there, but that was several years ago.

In my opinion, here are your two best options for smoking on the strip:

1. Caesar’s Palace has the Montecristo  lounge which has the best selection of cigars and spirits, by far.  There is a bar with poker machines and also several chairs and even couches, I think.  Lots of TVs with sports on at all times. The sports book is right around the corner. Bartender I talked to was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. The walk-in has Tatuaje, Illusione, etc. For shopping, you have the Forum Shoppes which are not too far from the lounge, but they are a bit of a walk.  Of course, inside the forum shoppes you have Casa Fuente, but you can only smoke Fuente cigars there.

2. The Wynn.  Shopping is at the Wynn Esplinade but we are talking Hermès, Cartier, Gucci, Armani, Rolex, etc.  High end goods only.  Their watch shops are great for window shopping.  You can smoke at Parasol Up in the casino level or Parasol Down, which is downstairs next to the Wynn steakhouse.  But they have limited cigar menu (I think about ten sticks) and the prices are grossly inflated.  But you are at the Wynn, which in my opinion is much more opulent than Caesar’s Palace.

Personally, I would stay at the Wynn and smoke at Caesar’s (which is what I do).  Enjoy your trip!

+1 for the Montecristo lounge in Caesars, very comfortable, great drinks

The Davidoff lounge in the mall across the street from Wynn/Encore is also excellent.

Thanks for the replies. What's the difference between Wynn and encore at the Wynn. Are they attached?

Yes sir, they are attached and of the same class.  Encore is the addition so it’s newer and I think the rooms a touch bigger.

The Encore is attached to the Wynn but you do a lot more walking if you stay there.  It’s the same quality but tucked farther away from the action.

If you do stay at the Wynn, the breakfast at Tableau is fantastic. But you need a reservation to get a table. It gets packed.  We go straight there after check in and make a reservation for every morning we want to eat there.

Ceasers.

I always stay at Bellagio, right next door to ceasers. Its about a 10 minute walk to the Montecristo lounge. They are very accomodating of cigars and still have smoking rooms available.

Wynn/Encore are nice as well, but Ive never actually stayed ar either.

My favorite is the Encore as it is a quieter and less crowded place than the Wynn...if you're interested in that feature. There is even a sports book in the Encore Casino which allows cigar smoking. Also, able to smoke cigars at the tables and in the bars.

I have been to Vegas enough times to know that cigarettes are allowed mostly everywhere I noticed. Is cigar smoking not allowed everywhere you can smoke cigarettes indoors? Like can you gamble and smoke a cigar at every table?

All great suggestions. If you wander downtown Chicago Brewing in 4 Queens is a cigar lounge. It’s small but comfortable. They also have pretty good (and reasonably priced) bar food and microbrews. Very good IPA. Play video poker at the bar and your drinks are comped. Not a great selection of sticks so BYO.

Many sports books are now non-smoking.  At least the best ones are (Caesars, Mandalay Bay, Bellagio, Venetian).  :(  Bummer.

But pretty much every casino floor allows cigars.  Most bars attached to casino floors (that don't serve food) will also be cigar friendly.  So choose where you stay based on what you like about the place.  You'll be able to find a place to smoke at every major resort.  Plus BYO is completely acceptable everywhere.  No one will even know what a cutting fee is.

As for specific places, my favorites are:

Montecristo at Caesars - A little hard to find (just ask when you get there), but a great substitute for the sportsbook, as they have several large screens there.  Great single malt and bourbon choices also.

Rhumbar at Mirage - Outdoor, so check the weather, but the heaters help fend off any chill.  Music can get loud-ish, but a great atmosphere at evening/night with the lights and bustle of the strip around you.  Not the place to go if you want to catch the game, hard to get a line of sight to any of the few tv screens.

Parasol Up/Down at Wynn - Definitely go outdoor by the pool if the weather is nice, or indoor if not.  Make sure to try a Sinatra Smash cocktail.  No tv screens here.

Skyfall Lounge at The Delano - 64th Floor views of the entire strip on their outdoor balcony.  Just amazing views.  Cigars allowed on the balcony after 10PM.

Chandelier Bar at Cosmopolitan - First or third level allows cigars. Beautiful setting.  Try the Verbena cocktail, with the edible flower - but be sure to obey your server's instructions!

The Dorsey at Venetian - Ivy League lounge feel.  You can sit by the fireplace and have a cigar.  Can get a little loud after 10pm on DJ nights.

Sports Book Bar at Caesars - Smoking is not allowed in the main sports book seating area, but at the big curved bar behind it, cigars are allowed.  Probably the best place to catch multiple games at once.

But don't limit yourself, the great thing about Las Vegas is you can still pretty much smoke where you want on the casino floor.  You might find a casino floor bar you really like and enjoy having a cigar there.  There are plenty of bars that aren't cigar-oriented that you can still smoke and enjoy your time at (places like the many Aria bars, Vesper at Cosmo, Le Central at Paris, the Lobby Bar at Caesars are all enjoyable).

Just my opinion, but I don't care for Casa Fuente at Caesars.  Fine to visit and shop, but a waste of time to sit and smoke there.  It's like being in a sururban strip mall.

CAESAR'S!!!

  • Casa Fuente! Right in the forum shops so your wife can spend all your money and you can smoke the Casa Fuente cigars you can only get here
  • Montecristo Cigar Bar! No cut fee, so BYO cigars and get a nice cocktail -- also can order in from the steakhouse next door ;)
  • Nobu! Right across the way from Montecristo (bring your wallet)

Other good cigar spots in Vegas:

  • Rhumbar at the Mirage is a cigar bar. Can get very clubby at night, but it's a great outdoor spot with heat lamps when chilly or misters when hot
  • Vesper at the Cosmopolitan is cigar friendly (actually the bottom of Chandelier Bar is too -- just don't make a nuisance of yourself)
  • Stand and watch the Bellagio fountains for a while -- great cigar spot
  • All the rooms at Cosmo have balconies -- get one on the Bellagio side for the best view in Vegas

Above is good solid advice. If I am going with my wife we stay at The Cosmopolitan and have a room with a balcony facing The Bellagio. Great to enjoy a drink and a cigar watching the fountains. It’s also a good central location for Ceasar’s And a lot of the other places mentioned. Nice pool area as well.

When are you planning on going? In the winter months, most pools are closed.

I imagine this would make sense. I've never been to Vegas, nor ever wanted to go, but one thing I cannot stand, is the smell of cigarette smoke. I can't enjoy my cigar if there are cigarette smokers everywhere. It's a very distinctive smell compared to the smell of Habanos. Or maybe I just have a sensitive nose.

Lots of places to enjoy cigars in Vegas without cigarettes being a big issue.
