Popular Post ayepatz Posted August 25, 2018 Popular Post Posted August 25, 2018 I just sat down outside a small, local bar in Berlin, and when the waitress took my order (a Negroni) I asked her if it would be ok if I smoked a cigar. She replied, “But, of course.” When my drink arrived it came with a bowl of popcorn and this:- Class. I love this town.? 12 5 1
thedame007 Posted August 25, 2018 Posted August 25, 2018 Jesus! I need to get myself back to Berlin! Talk about a classy and warm nod to the cigar! Do let me know the place, it will make the hit list!

retrofail Posted August 25, 2018 Posted August 25, 2018 I have to get back to Germany. Didn't venture to Berlin much in the 2 years I was there, so I need to rectify that! 1
Derboesekoenig Posted August 25, 2018 Posted August 25, 2018 Very classy. I've never anywhere that wasn't specifically a cigar lounge that had cedar spills. Hell, even plenty of cigar lounges I have been to don't have them.
hedgeybaby Posted August 26, 2018 Posted August 26, 2018 I was actually going to post an article how the WWII axis powers seem to have more freedoms than the allies.

Honestly, though, in all my years of smoking cigars, I’ve never been presented with cedar splits, matches and cutters when I’ve sat down in a random bar anywhere. Places that I’ve sought out specifically as cigar friendly, yes, but never in a simple local bar. 1

You are right. Very rare and extraordinary service ! 3

Ericbrobes Posted August 26, 2018 Posted August 26, 2018 Wow, always wanted to visit germany! Great service, thanks for sharing.
gweilgi Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 Thanks for the tip! We will be heading to Berlin in January so this is most welcome! The crazy thing is that Berlin is easily the most "red" city in Europe, ruled by a coalition of social democrats and old-school Socialists ... they loathe anything that smacks of capitalism!

Thanks for the tip -- Herzog was on my radar. Trouble is, I'll be travelling with the non-smoking mem so any extended visits to a lounge can only happen if I can arrange for a massage for her... ? Outdoor smoking does not bother me. I do not feel the cold, and it's always a good excuse to indulge in some mulled wine....
Ciscojohansson Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 I’m going there tomorrow and will definitely go to Hertzog and the LCDH, both are about 30 minutes’ walk from the Hotel. Thank you Jesus!
BrightonCorgi Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 Crazy to think how many of us haven't smoked at a restaurant dining table or a bar in a long time, if not ever. I was luck to smoke a restaurant in North Carolina, but previous to that it had been like 7-8 years and that was in Arthur Ave in Bronx... Before was another 7-8 year back when you could smoke inside in Montreal... Something so simple can be so elusive...

It surprised me after moving to the Atlanta area that there are still quite a few places where you can smoke inside. Granted mostly bar type places, but certainly can eat as well. Unfortunately my smoking in the restaurant days were all cigarettes. Well, except smoking outside at La Mamounia (the profile pic) this summer. Morocco doesn't count lol

ayepatz Posted August 30, 2018 Author Posted August 30, 2018 I’ve just revisited this bar this evening, and it turns out that one can smoke indoors, too. In fact, as I type this, I’m sitting inside (drinking an El Presidente, but tweaked with Appleton) and smoking a lovely Boli Coronas Junior from their bar-top humi. Top marks, Mister Hu! 1
