I've found the best way to clean out the small bits is to take the band off your cigar and fold it into a square or something close to that.  Then you run that folded up band down the spines of the perfect draw several times -- usually works like a charm for me.

Thanks for the tip, I'll try this out!

Blowing on it seams to work fine for me. I am a big advocate of perfecdraw too. With the construction inconsistency in CC's, it sure makes me more comfortable with my purchases. Have a great weekend!

I tried blowing on it quite a few times but I find that the tobacco is really stuck on there and so have to get something to prise it off. I'm going to try inter4alia's tip and use a folded band.

On a separate note, my wife and friends of my wife always comment on the perfect draw and they think it looks like eye liner!!

Like someone else said in the other thread about perfect draw: I must be a lucky bastard. It's really, really rare to have a so plugged cigar. Maybe one among 50-100 cigars.

My lord why didn’t I buy this earlier. I picked up a box of Hoyo Epicure Especial’s a few months back on a 24:24 and really enjoy the flavors. Problem is every 3rd one is too tight to enjoy. Smoking m

OK, I'm a convert. I lost the 1.5mm drill bit draw tool I made (by setting the bit in a piece of whittled bay wood) just before my birthday. One present to myself, why not I thought. Bloody marvellous little thing has already given four or five cigars much improved draws. Surprisingly small, dunno why but I imagined it would be bigger. And it's on eBay in the UK at last.

I used a metal skewer for years, finally ordered the perfect draw a year or so ago. Love it...

Lost my first one in an uber ride (too many adult beverages). Bought my second one after, then bought another last week. two day shipping if you don't count no mail on Sunday. Excellent tool. And now it's $29.95 (32 with tax). But definitely worth it.

I was given a Modus (very similar) which has a nubber and punch as well. Just waiting for the opportunity to use it... I’ve heard nothing but good things.

I'm buying one soon as I'm sitting on a few plugged boxes from 2010 and 11.

Had not heard of, but just ordered from website for 29.99, and got the glue for 8.95 to qualify for free shipping! Can't wait to try both.

the way it is designed to core, which draws the tobacco out, instead of just pushing the tobacco down, or to the outside, is what makes the tool money!

Don’t waste your money on the Modus. The Perfecdraw works best, by far.

Agree 100%

I have them both and the Perfect Draw is better

Reactivating an old topic because I have a question...

Am I the only one here who's not convinced by this perfecdraw or other similar items ? I mean, it unplugs cigars and make them smokeable by creating "tunnels" in the filler but I never had a great smoking experience after using it, it never comes close to what it should have been in the first place.

Having a plugged cigar doesn't come close to what it should have been in the first place either. The perfecdraw at least salvages a cigar that may have been pitched in the past. If it's a cheapie so what, toss it and move on. But with cigar prices being what they are if I can save a cigar and have a decent smoking experience as opposed to having to eat the cash I'll take it. If I was Michael Jordan things would be different!

I agree. Great tool but If I use it I only smoke the cigar down to point where i ended drilling. Cigar becomes bitter to me. Awesome tool if plug is in first couple inches around band. If I drill half way..I smoke it half way before pitching. Still better than throwing out entire cigar.

If the blend is off by there being too much of a certain leaf causing the tightness then it won't solve that unbalanced nature to the blend. Also if the cigar is too tight due to r/h issues then am improved draw won't help the flavour either

If a roller is making truly plugged cigars then I'm guessing their bunching probably isn't going to be great either.

There's probably some stoic answer in there too, state of mind can be a lot with smoking experiences and if you've discovered a plugged cigar there's disappointment/frustration and even after clearing a plug, you're probably half expecting a poor smoking experience on top of that

You're probably right but I think those holes you poke just modify too much the airflow inside the cigar, it will only flow through those "tunnels" and you lose a lot of the filler's coherence but that's just my take...

When in, I do use mine I'll always massage/roll the cigar to try and get the bunch back as even as possible, those first few times before starting doing it I definitely noticed that drawing through a hole experience

If you've gotten some of the old 99-02 tent pegs it's a bit more challenging with them being rock hard.

The bunching IS the problem, that's why they don't draw. The filler tobacco is too moist, and the roller compresses too much leaf, which ends up with a plugged cigar when complete.

Great product.

It is a great product.  However, in my opinion, many (most?) of the CC problems with tight draw can be solved by ensuring storage at a lower RH%. That said, I have a troublesome box of CC's that from which the PerfecDraw has helped in pulling out stems (?!?) on numerous occasions.

@Li Bai

For truly plugged cigars I ream a hole through the entirety of the cigar and then squeeze/massage the cigar in my palm or in my fingers to essentially close the hole and redistribute the tobacco. This works very well and fully closes the hole and creates a better smoking experience in my opinion.

For cigars that are that far gone I will put them in a ziplock with a 69% Boveda for a few weeks then do the drilling/reaming and massaging, then of course let them rest at my preferred RH. This let's you be a bit, well, less gentle with the cigar to prevent cracking and helps redistribute the tobacco a bit easier.

It may seem like a lot of work but I have a separate Tupperdore at 69% that I toss them in and when there's a bunch and I have 10-15 mins to kill I'll take care if them all at once.

That's interesting, I'll give it a shot. 👍
