Tollickd Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 Hey all I am looking at a nice San Cristobal the one with the ash tray. The seller is asking a fair bit 300eur (sorry if i am not to post prices) he also has the siglo vi too! How much are these really worth empty a good deal or not? I know only 2000 was made of the San Cristobal! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
kalibratecuba Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 I thought about collecting jars. The problem is that I doubt any jar would be flawless and at the price would drive me insane. This goes back to the OCD thread. I've scene the San Cristobal for around $700 with cigars. Sorry for burying the response to your question. Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
Tollickd Posted June 5, 2018 Author Posted June 5, 2018 I saw the San Cristobal on the dr joe show and it looks amazing!! I have a have a H. UPMANN NOELLAS jar on order with my LCDH will have it Friday! The San Cristobal one the guy has make an offer I am thinking a stupid what I would love to pay see if he takes the bate!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Fugu Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 This jar is not that limited. There have been several runs, and neither of them is numbered, like all LCDH and HS releases. So the true number of jars made is undisclosed. In the end it is worth what it is worth you, but 300 EUR for this jar is steep (bordering on brash). The collector's value is way lower, almost nought, when not complete with cigars. An empty jar is simply a nice exhibit. 1
Tollickd Posted June 5, 2018 Author Posted June 5, 2018 Ok I have asked him what’s his lowest I say if 100 eur I am all over it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Tollickd Posted June 5, 2018 Author Posted June 5, 2018 The guy also has an empty one of these tooSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
99call Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 A difficult question to answer. To me 300eur is a crazy price to pay for any empty jar............its an empty jar!! Say it to yourself over and over That said, the original Pickman Seville RA and Party jars are nice things, and the old bakealite 'humijars' are pretty cool, they all have genuine high resale value. I would say, if you looked in the right places (and were canny), you could pick something up one of these originals easy, for that price. Until recently, you could still find the San Cristobal Torreon Jar full!! for $600, if I had 300eur to burn , I would buy a box of Des Dieux..........just my opinion 1

LLC Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 You can still find theTorreon jar for $500 in Havana I saw 2 this weekExactly. Last fall we watched someone who had just bought one at The National bring it up to the back terrace and crack it open to smoke with his friends. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Tollickd Posted June 5, 2018 Author Posted June 5, 2018 Ok I am convinced for the price he’s asking I can pick up one of the long discontinued San Cristobal LCDH boxes from my LCDH!!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
aj60s Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 There is a second run of Torreon jars. I have one from JUN17 LGR. 1
Philc2001 Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 Empty jars are a novelty, worth only what you would be willing to pay for it. I wouldn't think there would be much demand for them, nor are they likely to appreciate much without the cigars. But I don't really follow that market so don't take my word of it.
NSXCIGAR Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 Non-special release jars are typically worth between $100-200. I would expect the Torreon jar to be in that range--maybe a bit less as it's not particularly difficult to find them at trusted vendors. The exception would be HU Noellas which are common and are probably worth maybe $25 for someone looking to pick one up. The jars in Cuba at the LCDHs typically sell for ~$125. Another exception would be more rare limited releases like Partagas P1, LE Selectos Finos, Bolivar Distinguidos, Bolivar 109 and Monte 3 Sevilla. Those are a bit more desirable and might go for $200-400. The old Sevilla jars generally sell for $500-700. A more rare jar like a 60+ year-old HU Coronas 50s might sell for $1000-1500 in good condition. But that's about the high end of the market on Cuban cigar jars.

Akela3rd Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 I picked up a HUPC x50 pre-Rev jar on eBay for £55, did a little restoration and put 50 HUPCs in it. No intention of selling it, it's perfect for keeping HUPCs in! (it now has 46 in it...) 1
Tollickd Posted June 6, 2018 Author Posted June 6, 2018 Ok he replied the fool wants 240 no less welI way!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

BrightonCorgi Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 I have a 2000 Monte jar from Bidasoa and would think it's worth 150-200? Was free for me. Never really priced them out.

Never really priced them out. Something like that might have a bit more value given the age, "rarity" and published production #'s. Jars like the LGC Cuba RE is limited to 2000, will only increase in value. Full or empty. Then there's the non-Habanos one's like the La Escepcion Selectos Finos jars (limited to 200). That was commissioned by Diademas SA and has a good following. So those will rise in value too. Then again, the market will deteremine where things go over time. 1

Never really priced them out. Yes, those jars are probably around $200 give or take. They aren't super hard to find but are now getting some age. I believe intact jars are in the $1,500-2000 range these days. 20 hours ago, Tollickd said: I know only 2000 was made of the San Cristobal! It's almost certain that this production number has been exceeded. The Torreon was released in 2013 and is still in production in 2017-2018. The Habanos Specialist releases appear to be ongoing as are the LCDH releases which also previously had stated production run numbers which has clearly been exceeded for all of them still currently produced (5,000 HU Noellas, 5,000 LGCI, 5,000 RAS, 5,000 HUR). Starting with the 2012 HdMDL the production numbers were omitted. I believe the LCDH program has shifted to what has essentially become regular production in unlimited numbers for all remaining cigars.
