I am very intrigued by the description of the flavors on our hosts site. If these descriptions are indeed accurate, I’d like to order quite a few boxes, but wanted to here others opinions first.

much Thanks!!

Here’s the description..

Petit Robusto

Ring Gauge: 54

Length: 4.3

The Vigia succeeds because it has big and distinctive flavours encased in an elegant delivery.

Strong milk coffee, doughnuts, nutmeg, almonds and a hint of buttered popcorn.

Terrific flavour profile”

Hmm, the best advice I can give, is that when you want to buy a number of boxes, is get your ducks in a row

- know you have a good merchant

- make sure you you've sampled from that code/year, and shade of wrapper

- ask you merchant to either send you images of what you are after from that code/year, or send them an image of what you are after.

- don't be surprised if all of your above efforts leave you with four boxes of cigars that are widely different......it's just CC's

Too me Trinidad = cake, biscuit, complexity and richness. With the Vigia you're effectively getting a bit more body, and maybe smoke output.  what you 100% do not want, is any under-filling.

 Coloniales are really good.

love these, if Trinidad made a corona, i think it would be close to the perfect light bodied cigar

I would recommend trying a couple before committing to a multi-box purchase (although there have been some good multi-box deals on 24:24 recently).

I enjoyed the couple of Vigias I’ve tried but not bought a box yet. If you are new to CCs then perhaps try some samplers to get a better understanding of what you like, as personal tastes vary a lot. I personally preferred the coloniales and fundadores over there Vigia, but that’s just me.

You need to try one or two first before committing to significant order.

I can't taste much of what ken tastes. Ken can't taste much of what I taste. Smithy is different again. You will be different to each of us.

if you can easily taste flavours such as coffeedough,nuts.peanuts.....then you will taste the above in plenty of Trinidad. If you can't easily taste those profiles, you will struggle.

There are certain flavours I struggle to find and yet ken can pick up readily. Different palate physiology in part. Perhaps different training.

We love them!  Smoked many in Europe two weeks ago, buying Tubos from one merchant and regular from another. They are not easy to find. I love anything Trinidad.

About two weeks ago. First night I bought the only two. I went back the next night, they had two more.

It s a strange store that guys all over the world bad mouth about, but it is the only one in Hungary, not just Budapest. And they are nice guys who try to help you.

My advice mirrors the sentiments of others here but might be a bit firmer: never, ever order a box--let alone multiple boxes--of a cigar you haven't tried yet. As Rob so accurately puts it, coffee & doughnuts might sound good on paper but you might taste a stale eclair dipped in sour milk.

I cannot recommend most cigars--Vigia included--across the board as a blind buy. It just might not be my cup of tea, or I might have sampled sub-par examples. Either way I'm not a fan yet, and it has become a cigar I probably won't buy again save for a single every year or so--not to mention I think the vitola sucks. If I had purchased a box that was the same as the first 3-petaca I bought  I would have been extremely unhappy--four times as unhappy to be exact. That being said, I would consider myself a fan of the Reyes and Fundys.

There are cigars that have been highly recommended to me over the years that I would have been very disappointed if I had sprung for a whole box. This is what petacas are for. 3-packs of Vigia tubos are easy to find. Rob also sells singles.

Smoking one right now from January 2017, and I love these things. I love the cold aroma, very sweet, as others have stated, it's like a "dessert" cigar.

Exactly what I was looking for... a dessert cigar.

I went ahead and ordered a box. You’re correct, as are all the responses above, it’s unwise to blindly order boxes of a cigar unknown to you. However, having said that, I can’t order singles. I admit it, it’s not wise, but if I’m going to order cigars all the way from Australia to the states, they must be at the very least, a box. It’s not rational. It shows up in my catalog of “The Unwise Choices Of Nate”.

A couple of weeks ago, based entirely on reviews I read, I ordered a 50ct box of RASS. Turned out perfect. At the moment they’re my favorite cigar. I also did this on a larger scale with pipe tobacco and Smoker’s Haven. Ordered 25 tins of something I never tried, again based on online reviews from known entities. I should’ve ordered more, and did just recently.

All of this is a long way to say that whenever I’ve placed an order based upon the smoking communities general consensus, it’s worked out 100% of the time which is why I was seeking general consensus here

Hey! I like ‘em. And sometimes I buy a three pack or whatever cigar before I have  tried it because I live on the wild dangerous side of this action.

Come on  to Canada y’all and I will show you the glasses of water in my wine fridges.

BOO YAH!

I routinely buy boxes blind having never tried a single, and if I don't like em, I can always find willing takers!

... my God man! You have succinctly described what has happened to the Cuban cigar... and the current state of the Cuban cigar smoker in one paragraph! Bravo!

Haha, Piggy, I fear you are right indeed!

Cheers my friend!

I hear you on the sampling/buying dilemna here in the U.S. While it is possible to buy singles and half/quarter boxes, often the value isn't quite right, and they're not always available. I recently did the same thing here with a box La Trova. No way to buy singles or smaller quantities, so I jumped in. Usually you can trade them if you don't like them.

As for the size of the Vigia, the population here skews a bit old school in terms of vitola preference. I would prefer another inch or so to the Vigia, just because I prefer a longer smoking duration. And while I also prefer a 42-48 RG, I think there are a lot of great cigars coming out in fatter RGs.

Only Trinidad Vigia I've had ('16 and then recent vintage), have been a little underfilled. Reyes for me.
