Greetings from other end of the world in a half cloudy cold Autumn morning. I usually smoke two or three shorts every day as doc prescribed long time ago, one after each meal. Regardless of whatever marka or vitola I smoke, I noticed that evening smokes are more delightful than smoking in the morning or in the afternoon. Although it is completely a personal experience -like other pleasure of life-, I am trying to understand the rational reasons behind this, -if there is any. Interruption by colligues at work or kids at home, daily issues in business, planning the rest of the day, even smoking across the computer screen while surfing on net etc. might be some good reason all of which can be summarized as distraction, however, I guess there should be more behind this like fast smoking due to Vitamin N urge in the morning, a mood conditioned for work, etc. Evenings are generally more silent, cosy, with less things to worry about and with a full stomach after a proper dinner.

In short, what is your favorite time of day, environment and mood for fully enjoying a cigar?

I think the times we enjoy cigars is affected by our varying circumstances and can be habitual.

For myself, during weekdays I enjoy a cigar after work in the late afternoon or in the early evenings if meeting with friends. On weekends I enjoy a cigar in the early afternoon mostly.

I'd say I smoke 95% of my cigars late in the evening after the family gone to bed. I tend to appreciate the early evening cigars with friends more though, but I guess that comes with the company.

Hmm to be it really depends what cigar it is. If its light in body or vintage, I can fancy a corona as early as 9:30.  If it were something like a Party 898 or an R&J Cazzie I will have like to have eaten and probably around 7pm+.

Strangely (when having given up smoking cigarettes previously) there are two different types of smoker. Those who's morning cigarette was the best of the day (me) and the other smokers (who would probably account for the other 80%) who couldn't think of anything worse than smoking in the morning.   I'm not saying this 100% carries over into cigar smoking, but I'd be surprised if it didn't.

I only smoke during waking hours.

During the week, I prefer to smoke at night, when I'm done with everything. On the weekends, I enjoy a nice morning smoke. On Sundays I love to have a smoke with some coffee while watching the early football games. Except for days like yesterday when the Raiders get smoked.

Usually in the evening but also in the afternoon on weekends

On, first, welcome to FoH. Nice first post!

There is no perfect time. I have actually lit a cigar and a few puffs into it, asked myself why I am smoking. That might be the case when I am actually depending on the cigar to change my mood, or to supply some form of satisfaction that the cigar cannot possibly obtain for me.

The right time can be anytime but the mean is usually in the late afternoon. It is when Lady Piggy first grabs a glass of wine (and before she has had too many), it is still light and there is enough distance between her making dinner and horse chores are not yet weighing on our minds.

Sometime the perfect time is in the shop. I might be CAD drawing, or doing something on the computer. Perhaps I am contemplating a theory about something 'humidor' and I want to roll something around in my noggin.

There are then moods to smoke. Do I fit the cigar into what I am doing, or do I fit into what the cigar is doing? Frankly I prefer to mood smoke. I actually want to move out of my world into the cigar world. Again, that is typically in the late afternoon with my wife and the dog...

Cheers! -Piggy

My absolute favorite is early morning on the weekends in late spring early fall. I live in the blue ridge mountains of Virginia, and those 2 times of year are stunning as far as scenery goes. Getting too cold now, but that's why I have a local cigar bar membership for the winter ahead.

Thanks a lot, Piggy. It seems that CAD is another common point but I can not fully apprecite a cigar when drawing. Perhabs it is heavy concentration that makes me smoke too fast and inhale too much. I think a cigar deserves special attention like a mistress. Not cheap, risky, time consuming but always rewarding.

I prefer warm afternoons. But that never happens during the week and maybe one weekend every month if my toddler naps.

Evenings are my preferred time. Contemplating the day, smoking a cigar, enjoying a libation, watching the sun set. Perfect.

I do occasionally enjoy an early morning cigar, but my schedule rarely affords the time and I hate "rushing" through a cigar.

Then there are certain times, vacation mostly, where all day everyday seems to be perfect.

Typically late afternoon during the week and any time during the weekend. Favorite time of all is early on a crisp fall Saturday morning after the smoker has been set up for a long run. Usually that equates to about 3 am. Absolutely no bothers at 3 am...

Normally an evening smoke watching the sunset is the best. However, there is something magical about lighting up a cigar on the front of the boat on a summer morning chasing that top water bite. That's a very specific situation :)

After dinner.

Though the lazy, warm summer afternoon is up there.

Mornings just don't do it for me. Seems like a cigar is a cap to a day, not the start of one to me. Plus I like a nice taste of Scotch or Rum or Brandy paired with my cigar, so....

This is pretty much me. But as a Browns fan, I’ve learned not to let Sunday losses affect how much I enjoy my Sunday-afternoon cigars. Otherwise I’d never enjoy them!

I enjoy cigars in the morning, at lunch and the times when my wife works late shifts.(ER doc). Coffee, water, scotch and a good stogie takes me away from the world's troubles for a while.

I enjoy smoking while watching sports, but not if one of my favorite teams is playing (losing). Struggle to relax.

After dinner is ideal as there is no rush at that point in the day to do something else.

Evenings and away from home for me (verboten a la maison!).  Also, when on the road it's after work and another 1 or 2 over the course of the evening.  Club nights are the best, there's a great cigar room and bar there and more than enough friends. :buddies:

I would happily smoke at work if my office building would allow it.  Cigars are a great relaxer but also a thoughtful stimulator . . . . . . a stimulating thoughtfulner . . . . . . . that's just coming out wrong . . . they help me think and write! :2thumbs:  I get more work done with a stogie in hand, even counting all the fussing and relights.

As TNT sed, I also like them on the golf course, but they are much harder to manage and enjoy.  I find I don't enjoy the flavors as much, but I still do it because a cigar in hand is such a perfect pairing with a beautiful round.

Spring, summer and fall, I have a daily ritual. On my back porch in the late afternoon with my libation of the day. It's a good time for me to relax enjoy a good cigar, catch up on the news or the latest posts on FOH !! My cigar consumption goes down drastically in the winter as I really can't enjoy a great Smoke if I'm freezing. So in winter, about the same time but only on warm days, which happen fairly frequently down here in the Deep South.
