So Monday Aug. 21 US will have a rare TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE.

Are you in the path?

I'm in Atlanta.  We'll be heading north about 1 1/2 hours to friends mountain lake house on Lake Burton, Ga.  We'll be in the band of Total Eclipse,  watching from the middle of the lake about 2:30pm.   Hoping for clear weather.

Wowzer!!  Should be a rare fantastic event,  where in the middle of the day sky turns black and stars come out.   I'll be howling.

I'm gonna try to tack a couple of days onto a business trip and catch it in Lincoln, NE.

Really looking forward to it being a cool experience!

From what I'm reading if you're near a Total eclipse zone,   you should make an effort to drive the hour or two to get to Total Eclipse to get the full effect of darkness;   seeing the edge,  or corona of the sun;  stars coming out.....the whole enchilada.

Read up on it,  and I think you'll agree.  Plus,  it is a once in a lifetime experience to have it this close to you.

Our city is supposed to be right under the eclipse. We are supposed to see 2 mins and 38 seconds of totality. I took the day off work, we have a bunch of family coming up/down to the stay the night before.

Gonna take it in while enjoying beer, burgers and a few cigars. Super pumped!

We must be neighbors then.... Also planning a short drive northeast to catch the totality!

       * I ordered a 5 pack of eclipse viewing glasses/visers so I'm hoping we'll get a chance to experience solar eclipse viewing history--!

I'll be celebrating my 50th birthday in darkness on the South Carolina coast on the 21st.  Anyone else have a birthday that day??

In the path of totality here.  Will be viewing from my house with a cigar.  Has not been a total eclipse in TN since 1485.

Historical weather patterns for that time of year show the weather may not cooperate. I heard a 32% chance of clear skies from one station, based on the historical data.

Screw 'em!!

Here's to clear blue skies! :buddies:

Wow - hadn't noticed that as yet!

How about starting a special thread for it, where members in the region of totality would post some real-time pics during the course of the eclipse?

Preferably with a nice stick of course... :cigar:

From what Hutch was saying, I'd be on the water seeking out the big browns in Burton. Wish I had a place on the water. Will be watching from Milton if I'm home.

Since you will be on the lake, you should drop a couple of line's in the water....

Beautiful cool blue sky morning on Lake Burton,  Ga.  in the heart of the "Total Eclipse" zone.  Hoping for 6 more hours of clear weather.

How is the traffic? Heard it was supposed to be brutal.

We've been up here for several days.   We'll find out tonight as we're heading home,  traffic permitting,  later tonight.

... it is not really an eclipse. It is the PigFish International Global Satellite Hyperspace Inspection Telescope (PIGSHIT for short) momentarily blocking the sun.

With it, I can see the bugs crawling in your humidor...!

Oh, tell your wife 'nice panties....'

Cheers! -Piggy

Ginkgo biloba?

... I don't know but they advertise them all over the news. It is either that or free standing plumbing fixtures!
