Ah, I missed that it was his girlfriend. Well, I guess the kid will be raised by more responsible people since it's likely she's going to the slammer for a while...

Would it be fair to guess they probably had little formal education in science? Basic physics should be enough to discourage anyone of attempting to recreate this Holywood movie classic stunt with a real firearm...

Two kids (one on the way) who don't deserve this shitty life ?

was watching something on tv the other day and the bad guys had a monster gun. the good guys hide at the corner of an old shed. the side exposed to the bad guys is blown away but the good guys emerge unscathed to save the day. where the hell do they think the bullets go? would have come straight out the other side like a knife through hot butter. but people see this and think (or don't think) and we have this piece of lunacy.

Some people believe the movies have no comprehension of what a bullet can do had a mate who was told by a mate in the army that bullets go through cars and was telling him how powerful AK47s are he was surprised I was surprised he did not know as he had a 303 and 22lr must have been stupid

whilst i might completely agree, if we take this argument any further either way, then this thread will inevitably be immediately shut down.

This happened just north of where i live.  Who in the right mind goes down range and holds the target that's going to be shot.  With a DE chambered in 50 ae?  The bullet is half an inch thick, the shell is longer than a 44 magnum is with the bullet in it.  It boggles the mind that these 2 idiots thought it'd be funny to shoot a book with it.  Of course the book isn't going to stop the damn bullet.

The sad part is the mom is going to be in jail for probably 10-15 years for felonious levels of stupidity, the 3 yo son doesn't have a dad anymore or a mom for years to come, and the unborn kid won't ever know his dad (no matter how stupid an idea this was) but also won't know their mom till their teen years.

Felonious levels of stupidity there.

It's completely insane to think that none of the estimated 30 other people watching this stunt didn't realize that a damn book isn't going to stop a .50 desert eagle.....WTF PEOPLE emoji849.png

Now we can debate statistics until the end of time, but there are figures out there suggesting that kids will have seen something like 16,000 simulated murders and 200,000 acts of violence on TV and at the movies by the time they turn 18.  And, this being TV and Hollywood, good guys don't get hit, or they miraculously get shot but are fit enough to get up and continue to kill all the baddies and get the girl.  To my mind, THAT is the root of this idiotic tragedy.  These morons have probably never seen or talked to a real-life gunshot victim.  They think TV is real, or at least realistic.

I'm sure they probably did have a full formal education and probably some college, too. Yes, the American public education system graduates those who decide to shoot Desert Eagles at themselves through a book without even testing it first to see if the book is thick enough at the very least

Anyone this stupid and reckless probably has a life expectancy of about 19 anyways. That's the way it works. Dumb people do dumb things all the time, and will until the end of humanity.

I'd expect the woman to probably get less than the max of 10 years due to her other child, her current pregnancy, some sympathy, and it probably really wasn't her idea. They'll go easy on her. With good behavior she'll probably end up serving far less than 5 years.

I'm also not one to advocate for children to be separated from their parents, but in this case I'm not sure this woman possesses the judgment to raise any children. At least they'll be in safer hands for a few years no matter who's got them.

Yeah I can see it now. "Well Timmy your Dad and I only used one encyclopedia, let's use 2 this time."

Wow..... just wow. The stupidity of some people never ceases to amaze me. The lengths people will go to to become 'YouTube stars' these days is shocking. I can't believe nobody watching it thought this was a bad idea either.
