For some reason I've never been a Hoyo fan, maybe it's me or maybe I've just never had a good one?

I have only one box of Hoyo's ..the Particulares in my collection.

I'm thinking about grabbing a box of Le Hoyo du Gourmet, Le Hoyo des Dieux, Epicure #1, Or the Double Coronas especially after seeing the 50 cab of Double Coronas on the recent 24:24 sale.

Can anyone chime in as to what Hoyo de Monterrey  I "need"?

Here comes every Hoyo...

as is almost always the case, the "best" is subjective and impossible to isolate. I can only tell you that the Du Prince has been very well received lately. Epi 1 & 2 are usually favorably reviewed. Haven't heard much about the DC lately although a cab just went up for the 24:24 the other day. San Juan, from what I've seen, has some mixed reviews.

The only Hoyo I'd steer you away from is the Anejados, and good luck finding any Des Dieux right now. If you do, let us know!

Taste is pretty subjective, and it's possible that the HdM flavor profile is not your cup of tea.  Nothing wrong with that.  However, if you're open to experimentation it might be to your benefit to order a sampler of Hoyo singles rather than taking a stab in the dark with a whole box.

My top go to is the Epi 2. I love the Des Dieux, and the SanJuan. Hoyo almost always has an element of cream to them that I can't resist.

Yes, it's the cream element I favour too, and that's why I have a preference for the (aged) 'Le Hoyo' line.

As a couple people have said, taste is subjective. It might just not be for you. i remember some years back I read so much about RASS and the RASCC. I tried it many times but never could see what the fuss was about. Same with anyting bolivar. Trust your taste buds

Du Prince and Petit Robusto here.  I wonder if every Hoyo will get named!  Haha.

Du Gourmet is to me, without question, the best Hoyo out there....

And to that end, where are you going to be buying a box from? Please, do tell...

Is there one still that hasn't been named? I would vote for the Epicure #2's but lots of great choices out there.

I am a no Hoyo man myself as well. Never did a thing for me - most of them. However I picked up a box of du prince not long ago and did NOT regret it. I do like that thing.

I've always been partial to the (discontinued) churchill and epicure 1. Have enjoyed the DC as well, but size-wise preferred the churchill.

Can't really comment on recent production.

I've only tried the Epicure Especials but loved them, they tasted like graham crackers.

I had a Epi 2 last year that was simply amazing, actually was only about 1 year old, but filled with cream, cinnamon and believe it or not mint! It left a great mint aftertaste on the palate. Such a great experience that it has left me searching for that perfect stick again. Unfortunately still searching, but they r consistently a creamy smoke a definite go too for me.
