I have enjoyed non-cuban Davidoff's in the past. At this point I would not spend the coin on these or any Davidoff. Not that they don't do a great product but I just don't like them that much.

Now, I would love to have a cuban Davi although that would not be a fair comparison.

NC Davidoffs of late haven't been getting the best reviews for the price they are asking per stick.

Sticks like the Davidoff Puro D'oro and Escurios have been mediocre at best. In saying this, I'd still like to try them and the Chefs collection is an interesting concept. So I guess these Chefs are cigar smokers??

Hmmm... are they sharing marketing teams with another country in the industry?

Great idea... since cigar smoking at the table is on the rise at restaurants everywhere. ;)

French Laundry in Napa used to have a selection of Pre-Embargo Cubans if anyone is interested :) I haven't been in a few years, so I'm not sure if it's still around.

My favorite cigar loving chef is Francis Mallman. Being able to dine with him is on my proverbial bucket list.

Hahaha. And I'm arguing back and forth with myself about spending $11-$12 a stick on a box of Monte Tubos. shead.gif

They're gunna need a lot more marketing if they really think a toro is worth 30 bucks.

Definitely an interesting angle here... Not a fan of Davidoff, but I'm almost tempted to try this one. Almost.

It will pass lol

Am I the only person who is sick of the NC industry telling me what sticks I should "pair" everything with?

Personally, the only thing I like to pair my cigars with is peace and quiet

It is an interesting idea and I'm sure will be popular within a certain market. I'm surprised that it hasn't been done before.

I'm not a big fan of Davidoff though and certainly wouldn't spend $30 a stick on them.

Sure...a good cigar should stand on its own.

I think Davidoff used to stand on its own as a luxury brand that did not have to resort to marketing gimmicks to sell their products. What the small upstarts have shown them is that the average cigar buyer is indeed influenced by gimmicky marketing. Drew Estates, Crowned Heads and Tatuaje have eroded their share and now they are forced to follow the same tactics. I would love to see what the uptake on this brainchild was.

I'm not smoking a $30 cigar on the course. But I'm sure that marketing scheme will work

When your tobacco isn't that great, rely on marketing!

BTW... I like to eat tongue numbing curry with my hands. What cigar will go well with this pairing?

I chuckled seeing the open robusto get a93 in CA this month. I've never heard anyone say anything good about them.
