Do you rest your wrists heavily while typing? My work laptop does this sometimes when I push down on the case near the trackpad. My IT folks disabled the trackpad entirely and solved the problem.

It sounds like a driver issue for the mouse or the graphics drivers. I would try uninstalling and reinstalling the mouse driver first and if no joy then try the graphics driver.

No everyone wants to be locked into a communist platform that's Apple.

Agreed, but it's also the least fussy situation for someone who's looking for a simple solution that just works when you need it to.

Let's not turn this into whether apple is better than Windows. Its like listening to an atheist and a theist debating the existence of god.

It always goes this way.

Throw it, get a MAC and then a 13yo to show you how to use it. There bamboozling when you have grown up with windows.

Go on pres, get a mac. See how well it integrates with your samsung phone... i look forward to the next IT thread you create :P

Cheers for that. I will try a few of the recommendations when in the Qantas lounge this afternoon.

Happens when using mouse or touchpad.

I like the hammer idea most lol3.gif

So, on the track pad... Sharply and somewhat forcefully, press/push each corner, simultaneously, each diagonal. Tap at it a little bit.

Reason being, after a few years, some grime, and dead skin cells, and in your case, ash, will build up, and the trackpad can get sticky or stuck.

Bash at it a couple times, focussing on the opposite diagonal corner, and it should free it up.

Bloody hell Jeremy.....it worked !

No random mouse movements now for 24 hours.

This may sound stupid.. but does it happen when you are typing? Or do you rest your hand on the laptop while you are using the mouse?

I have run into a lot of users who accidentally touch the mousepad and have the mouse bouncing all over the screen.. then they call me saying their laptop is acting crazy or is broken.. turns out it is user error.

Happened when I was typing. Happened when I was a foot away just watching it.
