El Presidente Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 I have a droopy Mouse Pointer. Pointer will run to the bottom left hand corner at a whim. It will run to the top right corner when it is tired of the bottom left corner. Have changed batteries in the mouse. Have changed mouse. Have googled for solutions but nothing appears to work. Happens when I disconnect mouse and use touchpad. it is intermittant. Can last for hours. If anyone has had this problem, please let me know how you solved it. Laptop is a Toshiba Portege Z301 running Windows 8. Please save me $2000 on a new laptop

reffy Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Try disabling your touchpad/touchscreen and using an external mouse only. 2
luv2fly Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Windows....that is the problem. Mac man here and no issues. BTW, when I saw the title I had very bad thoughts.
NSXCIGAR Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 I have a droopy Mouse Pointer. My "friend" usually takes certain types of medication for that...
mrastigue Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 This may offer a solution: http://superuser.com/questions/557860/mouse-pointer-automatically-moving-on-its-own Michael J. Rastigue III IPad sent
Maxismoke Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Dude, with your level of tech skills, just get a mac! Toshiba?? FFS! send us some Siglo VI tomorrow and i'll help you pay for the mac.
potpest Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 It sounds like a driver issue for the mouse or the graphics drivers. I would try uninstalling and reinstalling the mouse driver first and if no joy then try the graphics driver. Sent from my Wileyfox Swift using Tapatalk 1
MIKA27 Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Is it a wireless mouse Rob? Is there a wireless dongle attached to a USB port? Might just need to re-install the software.
Maxismoke Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 re-installing over and over, faulty drivers.. how i don't miss the windows days.
ayepatz Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 I have a droopy Mouse Pointer. Is THAT what you're calling it now?
Cohiba Stevie Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 It is without doubt the touchpad. I suspect a hardware issue as supposed to software (driver) issues. Has the touchpad been damaged in any way? Maybe the capacitive surface is scraped or is there something hitting it to make it do that? 3
stogieluver Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 My "friend" usually takes certain types of medication for that... That particular medication does wonders for "wrinkles".
Cohiba Stevie Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Writing the above post i just remember how i loathe the word 'drivers' I used to hate the windows days....

Laptop is a Toshiba Portege Z301 running Windows 8. Please save me $2000 on a new laptop As others have suggested, try disabling track pad when using mouse: Fn + F9 Toshiba has also included an interesting "palm check" feature. See: http://support.toshiba.com/support/viewContentDetail?soid=2255211 Mac advise also has significant merit. I fought the temptation for years until I couldn't any more. Hope this helps! 1
Jeremy Festa Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 So, on the track pad... Sharply and somewhat forcefully, press/push each corner, simultaneously, each diagonal. Tap at it a little bit. Reason being, after a few years, some grime, and dead skin cells, and in your case, ash, will build up, and the trackpad can get sticky or stuck. Bash at it a couple times, focussing on the opposite diagonal corner, and it should free it up. 2

Maybe the capacitive surface is scraped or is there something hitting it to make it do that? Yes, this very likely, hardware isse. Had the same with an older laptop. Seems, when certain pad contacts break, electrostatics comes into play and causes erroneous action of your pointer. Only two options, I fear: Either check what a replacement pad would cost, or simply continue by just using your mouse. 1
Jeremy Festa Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Forgot to say:- Turn the laptop upside down a couple times in conjunction with implementing my method.

Jeremy Festa Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Spit on it first lol HAHA but yeah, this may also actually help a little. Seriously
El Presidente Posted January 21, 2016 Author Posted January 21, 2016 Cheers for that. I will try a few of the recommendations when in the Qantas lounge this afternoon. Happens when using mouse or touchpad. I like the hammer idea most 1
