Okay to smoke more.

The #1 cause of death is birth, so your fate is predetermined. Might as well enjoy cigars for the ride.

I've been in critical care for 3 years and I'll just say the next patient I see who smokes cigars will be my first. It's cigarettes with all the nasty chemicals that are far bigger causes of health issues than cigars.

Correctomundo!

The big 'ol Surgeon General's report pointedly distinguished between cigarette, cigar and pipe smoking. All the bad stats were with the cigarette smokers, particularly those that started young (15 y.o.) and also smoked a lot (2 packs a day).

The cigar smokers? According to the Surgeon General, Moderate Cigar Smokers (defined as 1-5 cigars per day) lived as long or longer than non-smokers. Pipe guys were in the same boat.

And I suspect that today's propensity to smoke a stogie out of doors, or indoors with modern ventilation might perhaps improve on those stats. But the big thing is: don't inhale, don't smoke cigarettes, don't start young, and don't smoke too much! :cigar:

Haven't seen the actual report and tried looking for it but not seeming to have any luck. Do you happen to have a direct link?

Funny side note: I have a medical every year and the doc I go to loves cigars and told me how great they are as a form of meditation. He's a winner.

Well I'm just a touch late on a few points. Thank goodness I'm a quitter! Ditched the ciggies going on 15 yrs now. And only smoke 1-2 cigars a week. Think I might ramp that up a bit in honor of Trever and everyone here who does it for the taste and the meditation.

Yeah! GO Stogies!!
