forgop Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 I'm looking for an app that allows me to create an inventory app and not finding a good match. Looking for something that allows me to put in inventory with factory/date code, remove from inventory with rating ability, and tracks age. I've looked at stogie tracker and my anal retentiveness doesn't care for not being able to put in a factory code and list it as such. Stogie tracker just tracks cigar, qty, age in months when I'd rather it show cigar, factory/date, and qty. I realize I can add the factory code in the cigar, but not my preference. Haven't checked out any paid apps yet
merc Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 Never thought of using a phone app, that's a pretty good idea. I just keep an Excel spreadsheet for myself. A phone app would be good to show to friends if they want to see what you have for trade though.

Maplepie Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 A pen, a few pieces of paper, and a clipboard. (it helps to print off some pre-made charts, though) No need for scrambling and typing on a cramped screen. Just keep that beside the coolers or hung on a wall. Easy and simple! That way, I can just place it near my humidors and document all the takes, smokes, bombs, bombed, etc. Also, with a few signatures and printed dates, you can make it look quite official!
Paul3 Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 I use stogierate. It's primarily an iPhone, iPad app, but I use the online database version if I'm working on my PC or Droid phone. Entry from any device updates data on all devices. There's no specific category for tracking by factory code, but you can label and track by "collection". I label my collections as CC, NC and OLH (for those cigars safely locked away in Robs warehouse), also have a collection marked 'inbound' too. You could name your collections using the factory codes and filter that way. Tracking by age, collection, date purchased, and age is also possible in addition to rating. I also like the ability to download the whole thing as an excel spreadsheet. Had a couple apps in the past crash and lose all my data, Wong make that mistake again. Cheers
CaptainQuintero Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 I spent a week recently going through lots trying to find a "be all and end of" app but at the moment it either doesn't exist (To what I'd expect) or I can't find it. I think you're best off running a separate app for say real time humidity monitoring together and others for cigar stock tracking or like others say, an excel. There are some decent ones out there though. cigar geeks stood out for me.
Pedro2486 Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 What about a kickstarter to get CCW to build an app to integrate with the website. That would be awesome
LLC Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 I had used mobile stogie but they hadn't done any updates for a long time and it stopped working with IOS7. Took a while to find one I like but stogie rate works great and their is a field call box date where I put in the box code information. Not sure if there is a version for Android but I'd be surprised if there wasn't.
TheMunt Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 Hmm RateMyCigar appears to be the best on the market, I wouldn't download it though as it's $99 for the app. However it may be worth looking into. I don't know if it meets your criteria with the Factory Code, and on the reviews it doesn't seem to like Samsung Galaxy s5's but food for thought mate.
tjhernandez34 Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 I am a web developer, and this has been in my queue of personal projects for a while. I just need to find the time between work and freelance projects to get this built. What would be some features you all are interested in? 2
fingerburner Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 Whilst it's not technically an app, Cuban Cigar Website has everything you need for the reasons mentioned. 1

I just need to find the time between work and freelance projects to get this built. What would be some features you all are interested in? I'm looking into something that will track manufacturer, size, factory code, date, and quantity. Some of these apps have date purchased but I could care less about that. I'd like something that allows you to subtract from a box in your humidor and allows you to give it a score of some sort (say 1-5 star), add comments if you so choose, and then store those so you can refer to later on so you can see how your reviews of a cigar out of a particular box are staying the same, trending up/down as they age. I would like the app to show the age in years/months of when each review was conducted. Some of these others are pre-loaded with all the brands you can think of but that's not necessary IMO. I could also care less about everyone else's reviews, cigar shop locations, etc that make the others more extensive.

Homebrew Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 I just stick with the cubancigarwebsite. I don't use an app. My phone is just a stupid flip phone, by choice. I don't want to turn into one of those folks with their nose constantly in their phone. Dave (A.K.A. Homebrew)
Jeremy Festa Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 I just buy cigars and then I smoke them. I keep track of nothing. Sent from my iPhone 1
CigarDarr111 Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 I just loaded my humidor for android.. pretty awesome app. Box dates, purchase date, calculates age and total value of inventory amongst other things..
Rye Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 I just buy cigars and then I smoke them. I keep track of nothing. Sent from my iPhone This sums it up for me, although I've been known to try and snap a pretty pic once in awhile... It's actually a bit funny how well that brings back the memories of each cigar for me. I've over 5000 cigar pics in my camera roll, and when I look at each one, the flavour, burn characteristics, and construction are all remembered. I guess I have a strange dyslexic reverse photographic memory
rbelcastro Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 There is one called Aficionado that I can't recall seeing before(not affiliated with CA). Just started playing with it but looks like it has potential. It's android.
