parabola66 Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 So here it is.. my very first purchase. They smell amazing and look beautiful.. How does the rest of the FOH community feel? How do you guys think they look? P.S. Don't mind the Olivia box I store my singles in empty boxes in my tupperdor. 4
MIKA27 Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 Wow, they look great. It reminds me when I first purchased cigars, I had a 20 count desk top, thought that was plenty until a month later I realised I needed to upgrade! BTW - Oliva make a nice cigar IMO, I don't mind some NC's. 1
garbandz Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 good time to start a journal to record flavors, impressions, etc. In a couple of years you may not remember the enjoyment of this moment, and it can help you decide on later purchases....... smoke the behike last............. 1
canadianbeaver Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 Congratulations! Absolutely gorgeous. Enjoy over the holidays.

I agree, a good place to catalog your collection is on the Cuban cigar website. You can put your collection, quantity and notes all in one place. Check it out. If you can, click the donate button so Trevor can keep it going. A great source of information.
CQloh Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 Glad you are going straight to CCs. If i could only take back the time and money i wasted on NCs.FOH was a life changer. Personally i think the Maduro is the best They look awesome.. enjoy! 2
parabola66 Posted December 23, 2014 Author Posted December 23, 2014 Wow, I want to quote everybody and respond but that seems a bit nonsensical I've been smoking NC's for the better part of a year, always enjoyed a good smoke but finally decided to pick up the hobby. Took the plunge into CC's after I met someone through a friend who told me where to find a legit source. I agree, a good place to catalog your collection is on the Cuban cigar website. The journal is a great idea But what's this about the the donate button and Trevor? That's not an Esplendido sadly, it's a CoRo. I know it does look like the biggest robusto I have ever seen. I am definitely going to be smoking the Behike last. Probably the robusto first.. but not before these beautiful ladies lay down for a nice rest.

It looks like an Esplendido to me also.

stogieluver Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 It seems to be way too long to be a CoRo. I would have guessed a Sig VI.

Popular Post PigFish Posted December 23, 2014 Popular Post Posted December 23, 2014 They look like some nice cigars, I hope you enjoy them. Now I am off to suggesting again but first and anocdote. I wanted my first box of Cuban cigars to be Cohiba robustos. I did not know better. They were supposed to be the best, but back then there were a lot of shortages with international vendors and I settled for Bolivar Royal Coronas. I did not even know what they were at the time I bought them... -LOL What I was learning was the value of a good tobaccanist. I would like to note that selecting cigars is not about the "press and the trend." Sure you should try them all but here is another tip. Contact our host and ask him what he is liking. Forget the size, the brand and the high budget price tag... Forget the CA pictures, hype and crap that surrounds the cigar world. Ask Rob to put you together a nice pile of singles, 2 or 3 of each if you can afford it, that he thinks are outstanding and smoking well today. You may just find that the leadership of a good tobacconist, and the directions from an experienced palate might lead you in the direction of better cigars, not to mention more cigars (that means quality smoking time) for less money. It is just a tip! Happy smoking' and Merry Christmas! -Piggy 7

I was also looking at the samplers wondering which sticks they had, but I guess it doesn't really matter since I don't have a taste for anything yet. I got all Cohiba this time because I liked the NCs (and a bit of hype) but now I feel like the majority of my NC stock will get donated to the needy after I build a stock of CC
earthson Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 Wow! Right to the (reg. production) top of the price chain!
Popular Post PigFish Posted December 23, 2014 Popular Post Posted December 23, 2014 ... if you don't mind me saying, there are a lot of the nation's military that would love a gift of some cigars! If you are going to change over and not smoke the NCs there is some guy/gal sitting in a sandlot somewhere with a rifle by his side and sand in his nostrils that would love a smoke! While I gave up on the Big Smoke long ago, I used to send all my cigars from that event to guys in Afghanistan. One of my friends daughters is a captain and he used to direct me where to send them. Cheers mate, enjoy those cigars! -Piggy 5

nick2021 Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 Soldiers definitely will appreciate the gesture....I can tell you now it is cold in Afghanistan! We had forecast for snow earlier this week but got spared lol. If you want I can probably help with an address in about a week as I'm moving to a different base. Those troops would be appreciative.
PigFish Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 How does one donate them to our soldiers? I used to get a name of a captain or lieutenant from a friend of mine, Roman. He may still be a member here... I have not heard much from him for some time now. His daughter is an officer and she is married to another soldier, another officer both captains last I heard. I would get an address and send them. I would get names based on people my friend knew. They are a military family and he has a lot of ties to a lot of service men and women, working officers, close to the guys and gals in the lines. The officer would pass them out to his troops, and usually send me a group shot of the guys smoking them or sometimes a letter. Another friend of mine, Ricky, sends cigars every year to soldiers. Let me reach out to him and see if he can bring you up to speed. There are a lot of good folks out there with their asses planted in hell on earth, and whether it is chapstick or handy wipes, or good cigar, that little piece of home goes a long way. I used to send stuff all the time, but since the economy took a ****, I have not been paying my dues!!! Bad on me! I'll see if I can get you some leads! Cheers. -PIggy 2
