cigcars Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 I wonder how many people have paid $1000-2000 for a single F'n Gurkha... *Well shame on 'em
mgravito Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 I like most of the cigars on this list aside from the Gurkha and Stradivarius. Never tried a Denmark or Louixs. The Stradivarius is a flaming hot dumpster fire. I'd rather use it as chewing tobacco. Gurkha's whole pricing scheme is ridiculous and those specifically can be had in a bundle of 20 for about 100 bucks tops.
leftimatic Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 Who in the hell buys those Gurkhas? I don't know anyone who smokes them let alone pays that for them. My favorite NC shop is selling Black Dragon bundles marked down from $320 to $79. Have been for a year. It would appear they can't get rid of the sh&t sticks. Yes I've tried a few different Ghurkas and they IMO all sucked. The Padrons on the other hand were quite tasty. Just goes to show expensive is not always best.
Popular Post Habana Mike Posted November 7, 2014 Popular Post Posted November 7, 2014 Clueless ****. Aside from price differentials just the list was ridiculous. 5
westg Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 Would rather a PLMC over probably most of them all day long....I once was caught up in the Padron 80 years and family reserve. Now they have a lonely existence in a desk to somewhere, no room for them in my fridges..Behike ... just love them .Opus x A just insult some women if you want a smack in the face. 1
CanuckSARTech Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 Very inaccurate list. Love whenever some wanker journalist gets told, "Hey, write an article on cigars, it's what our wannabe-swanky readers should be into", and then the journalist goes, "WHA?!?!?!? I don't know anything about cigars, boss!!!! Oh well, WTF...", and does a horrible, uneducated article (and tries to write like one indeed knows, but also uses photos that don't match up, etc.) So sad. 3
Mckucci Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 Opus X and Pardon are stupidly overrated. Their cigars are not even that great, there are tons of better sticks for half the price out there! Gurkha doesn't even belong on this list, they just have the finance to back it.... Such terrible cigars... 1
garbandz Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 the Dutch have 50 words for ****........... all of them apply to this article............ I have seen the Stradivarius for sale at JR for 8.00 /stick. Black Dragons fetch 6-7 dollars each. King of Denmark.... 30 made per day? $75.00 each? What a potential gold mine, and a piss poor business model........... 3
Ginseng Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 ...worth $25,000 a box Correction, MSRPriced at $25,000. Worth...substantially less. Wilkey 1
Maxismoke Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 The King of Denmark is actually a really good stick, it can be had cheaper though, around 35 bucks.
Franko Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 Padrón yes, opus nah, is to sheet lol, padrón taste like real aged tabacco IMO.
Laynard Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 These seem to all be MSRP, but can be found for substantially less. About a month into this hobby, I picked up a Stradivarius for around $10 because I'm a musician and I liked the name. Found out later that they try and demand such a high price. I haven't smoked it yet. I love Fuentes and Padrons though. Again, they can be found for a lot cheaper than this article claims. As far as Gurkha: not a bad cigar for $1-$2. For $1000+, one would be sorely disappointed.
srbbones Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 These Gurkha Cigars everybody raves about must be an amazing smoke! it caught my eye on a NC website front page List price $1000 Sale price $79.95 92% discount they must be AMAZING I'll bet that site didn't even sell many at that 92% discount!
Moogypug Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 I haven't had a Gurkha I liked. They're almost as bad as those 1 dollar sticks you find at the local liquor store. 1
ShortFatHokie Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 I wonder how many people have paid $1000-2000 for a single F'n Gurkha... I wouldn't pay 1,000 pennies for any Gurkha...probably wouldn't even pay 10 pennies for one...
leftimatic Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 I haven't had a Gurkha I liked. They're almost as bad as those 1 dollar sticks you find at the local liquor store. The Ghurka White Owl, MSRP $1250 on sale at Liquor Barn $0.75 a stick. 1
Habana Mike Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 Somebody must be buying Ghurkas, how else could they still be around?
leftimatic Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 Maybe someone is buying up the discounted Ghurkas and using them for counterfeit Cohibas!
RijkdeGooier Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 Opus and Prometheus have decent sticks for my palette. Sometimes I'm just in the mood for something with a bit more body. As per usual smoking aged is the way too go.
mikek Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 I have had the Padron 80th and I much prefer the 40th maduro! Smoked A few Opus there OK but not worth the price! I have never had A Gurka I liked period!
cigcars Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 Maybe someone is buying up the discounted Ghurkas and using them for counterfeit Cohibas! Oh NO! Perish, perish, perish that thought! 1
brownpeter335 Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 I have ever smoked the most expensive cigar is Cohiba Behike. It is too good to smoke.
leftimatic Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 Product FeaturesSize: 6 x 60 Gurkha Widow Maker Natural XOAvailability: Usually ships in 24 hoursPackaging Single CigarBundle of 20List Price: $1,000.00 Price: $79.95 You Save: 92% Just some more Ghurka bashing if anyone is interested. Found this on my favorite NC cigar site. 2
dtrott Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 the whole Padron 1926 series is overpriced but probably still worth the $$$. In my view every other NC stick on this list (including the Opus X) is just not worth the cash.
