Personally I like to keep my Humidors around 65-66 % RH. For me, and I know some people may not agree. I find the cigars smoke and burn the best in this range. I don't stress too much about temperature, as long as its relatively consistent I'm happy.

However, I always find it interesting to hear from others.... I've had some people tell me they keep their humidors as low as 62%, all the way up to 72%, with the majority of people swearing by the 70/70 rule....

So, what's your ideal RH?

After lots of experimentation and talking to other members of FOH, I have started keeping my cab at 65% and my desktop at 62%. I try to keep a steady supply in the desktop. Only adjusted my system a couple weeks ago but the results have spoken for themselves. Improved burn and draw.

I keep my cabinet at around 68-70 and my desktop at 62-63 works well for me.

I've rarely heard of people using the 70/70 rule with Cubans.

I do have a mate who stores at 62 and brings it to 65 before smoking (D).

I have another one who stores at 80 % (temp at 15C) and puts it on the counter for 3 days before smoking.

I set my oasis @65% and with the beads it maintains everything at 63-64

Death row is kept at 62%. Temps between 16-18c

Boveda 69's in my tupperdor & humidor.

Tried the 65 w/ beads, beads didn't work well from my findings so I ditched them and went w/ these - holding steady and loving it.

Thinking hte beads were undersized possibly which is why I had the issues but can't go wrong w/ boveda. I now have a few extras for when I need to recharge.

I keep my RH at 65 however my temperature fluctuates between 59 and 66 throughout the year as I don't have a method to control this. I accept this in terms of storage, my Ideal smoking rh however depends on the temperature. Take a gander at some of the previous discussions, mainly piggy's words of wisdom, on temperature and Rh. If there's one thing I've learn't; discussing one without the other is meaningless when it comes to the preferred moisture content of tobacco for smoking.

I don't think the majority is 70/70 at all!

I'm 65/65 or lower.

What do you recommend to your customers as the ideal RH/temp? Is it dependent on the provenance of the cigars (CC/NC)?

At least in Continental Europe, 70% are very popular for Cubans. The recent Hombre del Habano, Urs Portmann, also endorses a rather humid storage.

So very interesting.

Year round temp is between 68-71 and RH is 62-64. Works for me.

That is the shortest post Piggy has ever made on the subject of humidity

Is it damp in here, or is it just me?

I started out with the 70/70 thing too, but soon transitioned to 65/65 or even slightly drier. My sticks in SE Asia I can't get that dry, but at least in the States it's an rH of 60-65. I am also appreciating the addition this year of plastic (tuperdore) storage. When a bin is mostly full, all one does is toss in 4-5 Bovedas and the humidity doesn't move and the Bovedas last for-freakin'-ever!

65-67 I also have temp swings and I find myself having to touch up or relight cigars more if the humidity gets 70 or over.

My large cabinet with my NCs is kept at 68. My smaller humidor which houses my CCs is kept at 60. My temperature is a constant 68. My CCs definitely smoke better at 60%.

I'm 68/68 in a Vinotemp - have mostly excellent experiences - am trying lower RH as a test (62-65) - due to info from reading - Will see how that goes
