El Presidente Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 I lit a ERDM Tainos on Sunday afternoon while working away. I certainly may not have been paying the closest of attention but I was taken back by the way it "flamed" to life......and kept going and going for well over a minute as if I had lit a piece of paper The Tainos burn settled down but the wrapper was charred to near the band. I sadly tossed it and grabbed another....no such problem. I have never had that happen before to anywhere near this extent...a cigar on fire for over a minute
Jeremy Festa Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Did you thoroughly check the construction of said cigar prior to taking the cap off with your fingernails and lighting it? And had you previously and generously poured any specific spirit prior to setting down to work? Just sayin' Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Jeremy Festa Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Felt a tad loose but I have had plenty worse......and I hadn't started drinking yet! Was just thinking you may have had a high OP rum residue on your hands before man handling the cigar Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
El Guero Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 That sucks about the cigar. When i red the thread title i thought it was going to be a " i got kicked out of another hotel" story. 1

Habana Mike Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 I've had one or two that flamed at the foot for a 20-30 seconds perhaps but didn't consume the wrapper to any degree. All the way to the band? That is just strange to me.....
PapaDisco Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Don't tell me, let me guess . . . this set off the fire alarm and you are now evicted from a sixth hotel??
cigcars Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 All I can find myself thinking is, "WHERE WERE YOU ABLE TO FIND A ERDM TAINOS!!!!" I'd figured they were practically discontinued, they're so impossible to find.

Ryan Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 A lump of magnesium from magnesium rich Cuban soil.. Or maybe Lithium.. :)
mikek Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 I had that happen to my eyebrows years ago knocking back shots out at the pool on A hot summer morning!
Rye Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Thank goodness the shelf life on those pesky cigar bombs isn't very long or that puppy could've taken your head off!!
canadianbeaver Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Gag cigar from Ken. Don't you know when you've been punk'd? 1
PigFish Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 … the lighter fluid goes into the lighter mate, not the foot of the cigar! It is lighter fluid, not light(ing) fluid! Just an FYI… Osbornes… got'a lov'em, but you can't take them outta' the bush! -LOL -Piggy
... Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 On a more serious note, I have heard smokeable cigar bands on some NCs, made with tobacco, burn about the way your wrapper did. I wonder how these smokable bands are treated, whether they are made like paper using tobacco fiber through a complex process or are just treated pieces of a leaf... Anything is possible as cigars are crafted products with only partial quality control...
