LeafLover Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 I for one have never bought through he LFTH. Reason being is that the cigars I buy from you are already top notch. Having said that, there is a lot of brothers here who want that extra special box. So I vote to continue it.
LeafLover Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 If it gets too taxing, do it once every two months. That might give people a chance to recover financially or to save.
Puros Y Vino Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 As far as the program goes. It has it's detractors and it's fans, but it has stood on it's own merits. Had it not, you would not be having this discussion today. In regards to the extra time it bites into. That's something you and your team will have to figure out. Maybe a little less frequent, etc, not as long, who knows? But I believe that there's a lot of appreciation at this end from those who partake and perhaps that might weigh in on a decision. 1
celtmick1984 Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Love it. Makes Cubans worth the effort and this smoker a loyal customer. When I'm seeking a special box to remember a moment, I come here. Could dial it back, perhaps, to every two months and make it more of an event without reducing the value added.
Pedro2486 Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 I hope I'm not out of order here, but damn I'm nosy. Would anyone mind PMing me a link to the forum where these posts were made? I'm very curious to the reasoning behind these peoples attitude
Laynard Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 I just want to add, the LFTH event was a lot of fun, and I enjoyed every minute of it. My F5 key may say otherwise, but I say "suck it up!" I hope you all are having a great weekend with your families and enjoying your downtime. Shipping commences next week!
Smalls Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 My vote would be to do whatever is best for you and your family. I have never received a cigar from you all that I would consider crap. In a perfect world I would suggest a compromise of some sort. I really love the LFTH and would hate to see that go away (In fact, I am on my way to get another box after I type this) . However, if that demands too much time then scaling it back may be a good idea as suggested above. However, I do enjoy sitting with a glass of scotch waiting to see what the next box that comes up will be. Maybe some others could become more involved in grading, or grading less often? I don't know. I wouldn't blame you for wanting to scale it back though.
El Presidente Posted August 16, 2014 Author Posted August 16, 2014 popped back in on a rainy Saturday afternoon. out to cook a Potato Tortilla and put a 4kg rib roast in the BBQ for a little dinner party. Glass of red and and a RACF in hand I have not seen the commentary elsewhere nor do I intend to. However thank you for your thoughts on this thread and I will take them into account going forward. Have a cracker weekend one and all! 2

canadianbeaver Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 How about a hybrid? Make the 12:12 have the grading system. 2
charlesod Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 It looks like I'm a bit late to the thread, but I thought I would add my 2 cents worth. I bought 5 boxes from this latest LFTH. Three are my very favorite cigars: CORO's, Monte 2's and PLPC's. Furthermore all of those three were PSP's. I fully expect these cigars to be some of the best, if not the VERY BEST, examples of the brands I have ever smoked. I've been smoking cigars for over 15 years and have bought cigars all over the world. There is NO OTHER PLACE ON EARTH where I could buy cigars of the quality offered here. None. Period. So, with that said, from a purely selfish point of view, I hope you continue LFTH just the way it is. Thank you and your staff for all you do in supplying the finest cigars on the planet!
cpmurrin Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 I only ask this question because of an e-mail I received today about another forums questioning of the system. Of course how this started was members asking for the best boxes. I started a grading system I could understand, PSP top 5% of Marque/vitoal. HQ next 15%, PE next 30% The rest is wholesaled out as best we can (pubs/clubs/wholesalers etal). 12:12 is predominantly PE/HQ. We ship the best first if I have graded it. If I have not graded it personally the team here determines and they are well trained. *****int/as is a complete mix less the crap. Graded where possible. The team checks quality. In the end the PSP/HQ/PE system is what I would find in a big B&M/Warehouse and how I would pick my personal stock. No more no less. It is what I would spend my coin on. To be honest I would be happy to discontinue it as it takes a week a month out of my kids and Di to do so. I could run 12;12's every day and it would be no different to the quality you would find anywhere else. Yet I understand there would be few people over the quality of their stock as I am . I do enjoy it. i get frustrated and at the same time elated. So a poll. Continue or discontinue the program? I will run with the consensus. Have a cracker weekend people! Rob Rob: its an invaluable service that you provide to those of us who can't go to a B&M to go over stock. I would be very disappointed if you stopped. I don't mind paying more for top shelf and prefer to have had you look over what I'm buying as you have an amazing eye for quality. Best, Charley
helix Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Rob , there is immense value in having your personal touch. A week a month away from your family is to much. I think a week every two or three months supplemented with 12/12 or similar offering could provide members with enough of the same quality product we enjoy now. Clinton 1
Grahamsant Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Regardless of the swing of the vote I think you have to do what's right for you and what's right for your family. I want to be selfish and say to keep the program going as the cigars I get from you guys are absolutely exceptional! Having had a few HQ boxes and one PSP box let me tell you that I will always happily come back and pay the extra coin for the PSP/HQ selections as they are without doubt miles above the rest. In terms of cost comparison, even paying the extra here for the highest quality cigars is sometimes only around half the price of what I would have to pay in the UK for an off the shelf box. So yes, I can't deny that I want to be selfish but I do have to accept that you are not just the business. You have a family and family always have to take the highest priority! Again, all I can suggest is for you to do what is best for you! I can guarantee I will still make my purchases from you and most of us probably feel the same.
Lotusguy Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 A week a month away is not too bad, actually. Been doing between a week and 2.5 weeks a month away from home on business for 20 years...
ptrthgr8 Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 A week a month away is not too bad, actually. Been doing between a week and 2.5 weeks a month away from home on business for 20 years... A week away from home each month is bad. 2.5 weeks away each month is 2.5x worse. And doing that for 20 years? That just seems masochistic. LOL. I certainly couldn't do that anyhow. Lotusguy Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 2.5 was too much - I only did that for 3 years One week kind of keeps things fresh, if you ask me. 1
StumpyJoe Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Rob, you Diana and your staff are amazing. I would love that the program continue. At the same time I know it's a sacrifice for all involved and I feel that my "vote" is a bit self serving. However, you asked for my input. With that said...I purchase all my CC's from you because of your professionalism and attention to detail. I am happy to pay for your expertise and time and efforts on my behalf. You and Diana are a cut above. If you need to take a break from the program or leave a larger gap between LFTH to stay connected then I would encourage that to the utmost. At the end of the day...biggest focus is on family...everything else finds it's place. 1
