fingerburner Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 TBH I haven't smoked one yet. I've always been interested, but always find something I would rather buy. Me too. There seems to be some love for it here so maybe i'll bump it up the wishlist...
sengjc Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 Tried a couple when first launched. The first was dismal after a few weeks of rest, the second was better after 6 months or so but still lacking something. Have never really had another since the initial two and not likely to since they are quite pricey.
JohnLeupp Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 i think it stacks up very well vs. the Siglo VI and BHK 54 in terms of value.
Habana Mike Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 Got a box of JUN13 back in October. First few were excellent, perfect construction, thick full body, nice strength and very richly flavored. Last couple were a bit flat so to the back they go! I'd buy these again.....passed like a champ. 1
stunod Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 Lovely smoke! Reviewed it recently.Great review, just watched it 1
Dara Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 I was at the launch of these and loved them from the moment I first had one. I still have my 2 stick box from the launch in the back of the humidor. I think the main reason they haven't taken off is the packaging. 5 count boxes tend to be very hard to come by in my experience and a 25 count is a big ask in terms of price. Why they don't introduce a 10 count box I can't understand and they don't seem committed to producing the 5 counts with any regularity/quantity!
celtmick1984 Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 Got an HQ box from Rob awhile back, SEP 12s I believe, and have had a few. I will say that I'm not generally a fan of the large ring gauges, but have enjoyed these as an occasional change of pace. Each of them have been lush, medium strength, medium to full bodied, lightly sweet (some cocoa) and cedary with some cooking spices, a very good smoke, but not quite what you expect if you were thinking it would be a big D4. If you take them on their own terms though, they're great. 91-92 with potential, I think.
oliverchang514 Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 I bought 2 5'ers at launch and still have a few left. I will have to pick them up again, but they were just average to me. Maybe I'm just not a fan of large ring gauges as a couple others have mentioned. If I'm going for a longer smoke I prefer the BBF or a Monte #2. Regular rotation are small sticks such as bpc, bcj, shorts, rascc, monte 4 hq that I just picked up from rob.
ewipper Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 Satisfying cigars are not easy to find, so price, 180-400, is sort of irrelevant for the right box. That being said, these original releases were and are incredible. I actually find them to be a slightly more sophisticated and subtle D4.
IcedCanuck Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 I really like these sticks. I wanted to stock up on them when I heard they were being dropped after the first year of production (I really hope that has changed) but due to the price point I am currently only sitting on a couple boxes. If I had the funds I would go very deep into them. I found the first batch I went through to be a tad under filled but have no complaints about the second box I went through.

TiminBC Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 hmm just smoked the first one out of a box I bought 2 month ago. Too much pepper and a metallic taste. I guess they need some aging. Hopefully they will improve allot!
Lant63 Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 Could someone post some good 2012 or 2013 codes for these if they have them? Thanks in advance!
mikek Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 I have had five in the humi for about two years I have never tried one I'll wait untill it cool's off maybe give them untill fall!
Laxman Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 I have found the MUR 12 and 13 codes have been excellent. Didn't like them when they first came out but Bart gave me one a few months back and got me hooked. Has become one of my go to cigars. 3
Edu Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 It is a strange partagas... Mild and lacking the peppery flavor that is a constant in the "Serie" line. Still a cigar that have the most polished aspect ever (besting even the bhks) and complex, elegant and rich flavors; I like it a lot. If you are looking for the pepper and spice of the partagas this is not the cigar for you, but still, an excelent CC
Mr.T Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Working through my first and only so far box of these (ULA NOV 13). It's an HQ box and they are smoking very, very well. Construction, draw etc have been spot on. They've been consistent, medium to full bodied rich smokes with flavors ranging from cedar, pepper to a sweet, almost syrup like taste.
hulklogan Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Love these... Tried a five count box, enjoyed them so much got two 25 boxes...
421eme Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 Just had one from my 2013 box last night. Pretty consistent with all that I've had from other years, and still one of my favorites. I'll be looking forward to when they really have some age on them. Cheers, Carl
dobbs Posted December 27, 2020 Posted December 27, 2020 okay, so i know i'm digging up an old thread, but i smoked an e2 the other day from uao abr 19 that was in my top 5 cigars for the year. because of that, i ask the same question el presidente asked in 2014: On 3/19/2014 at 4:53 PM, El Presidente said: How are those original release smoking? How are recent purchases smoking? have they maintained quality over the years? well, how are the e2's with some years on? -dobbs

I’m actually curious to hear some answers on this. I’ve always struck out with the E personally but I’m always tempted to revisit, it’s been a while.
Popular Post RDB Posted December 27, 2020 Popular Post Posted December 27, 2020 It’s a huge hit. I scored a fabulous psp box from MSU JUN 18 and they have been reliably gorgeous. Rich and full flavoured yet quite smooth and gentle, not as demanding of time as the Lusitania but similarly luxurious. I once had a five year old, nice looking Sig VI and one of these on consecutive days, and the E2 was the clear winner. Tonight’s example: 4 1
