That's very sad news. I met him just a few weeks ago and had a brief chat with him at the shop. I noticed he had lost quite a bit of weight in the last year and asked him how he was. He said he had ba

Very sad indeed, I have two Monsdales left that he rolled 8 years ago when I was visiting Club Habana. They will be very special now and will be smoked in his memory.

RIP Senor Mons.

There is a common thread of the greats in this industry and that is their sheer gentleness, grace and passion for family, friends and the humble leaf.

Thank you for all that you have given to so many flower.gif

Condolences and prayers to Mons' family. He was a great ambassador for cigars and Cuba. A true gentleman who was always very kind, generous and full of grace.

My heart also goes out to Robbie. Please let me know if there is anything I can do. Happy to help in any way that I can...

RIP. Being a noob to CC's, I only recently learned who this man was and made arrangements to obtain some of his signature cigars (even though they're no longer rolled by him).

Very sad news for any passionate Habano lover worldwide - a truly great man has passed, my sincere condolences to his family.

I had the pleasure to meet him often, last time Nov. 2012 when Sra Zoe Nocedo took me to his retirement "tertulia" at Hotel Florida where I learned about his most interesting biography :

He arrived in Havana at age 15 and became a roller, was then a soldier at the Bay of Pigs invasion, a revolutionary who fulfilled “Internationalist missions” in Ethiopia and Angola, a QC manager for Cubatabaco, founder of the first LCDH in Cuba, 5-ta y 16 and then manager at the Club Habana LCDH. He was nominated last year for Habano Man of the year at the annual Festival del Habano.

Every Monsdale now will be a memoir to his life and achievement.

DEP Enrique Mons.

Mons grew up in the farms of Pinar del Rio and he always considered himself a farmer first and foremost. His ashes will be spread there on his birthday August 1st. There was a tremendous showing at his memorial today and he was cremated this afternoon. There will never be another with as much knowledge from farm to finish. He was starting a book and it's a shame it will never be finished. His death was way too soon.
