Nino Posted February 21, 2014 Author Posted February 21, 2014 Say hi to Frabnk for me and have a great time! Anxiously awaiting for more updates.....always a good show from you Sir. Cheers No can ... say hello to Frank ... sorry. Bad News from sunny Havana. Woke up at 0645 thinking that my best buddy Frank was already on his way from FRA to HAV, had breakfast, wrote mails and then switched on my mobile. 2 text messages popped up – Frank was still in FRA, strike by security staff, all flights cancelled for today, utter chaos. Freaking shite- I was almost crying. Called home, arranged for information, transport and housing for Frank and waited for news. An hour later a call : All seats to VRA tomorrow booked, after 4 hrs in line he had been given the last seat to HAV next Monday, loses 3 valuable days, drives back home to Belgium and back to FRA Monday arriving in HAV 8 pm. Misses the Part. Lusi GR tasting I am hosting at my Casa ( actually he was to give the speech and info on the cigar – misses the visit to Aguilera Humidors, I cancelled the pork roast dinner at my Cuban family home ) but : when I called my Cuban friends they laughed and made me laugh as these are “First World Luxury problems” – they have REAL problems – which is true, as painful this delay is for me. So here I am, all dressed up and no place to go, so to speak. Was supposed to meet Amir, Magali and Intern. Friends at the Nacional after picking up Frank, will assist and relax with them. Yesterday I welcomed Rob Fox and Andy here, had 2 Cubatas with them and Jose by the Malecon at the Nacional, invited them to my tasting this Sunday. Also : Great lunch yesterday at El Litoral next to the USIS by the Malecon, will go back for more. Cigars : A strong but creamy Butifarra that left me dizzy as it was after b’fast, a tremendous custom rolled Lancero, a H.Upmann Reserva ( or is there a Gran Reserva ? ) Torpedo. Santiago, Mulata and Cristal. Guess I will have more Mulata tonight than is good for me, but have to drown the pain of not having my buddy here. But hell, he promised not to sleep a second and make up for the lost 3 days.We will have the P GR for ourselves and he’ll get a private tour of Aguilera just for himself. We’ll make up for the delay. We’ll have fun again !! Nino
Blackham Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 The octopus dish from Litoral looks great, will give it a visit next week when we're in Havana!

Nino Posted March 1, 2014 Author Posted March 1, 2014 Hi all, my friend Mr Portmann finally received the well-deserved Habano Man of the Year Award last night. Just said good-bye to the Group and have 5 days now to rest my bones and cure my Bronchitis before more friends arrive. Cool and sunny and many interesting cigars ... Frank had a blast in 3 and a half days here and Edwardwill Report on our smokes and the charity work for Lung Kong Society for the elderly in HAV. Nino
maverickdrinker Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 glad that you are having fun Nino. Sorry to hear about the bronchitis. Hope you get some rest. Happy to also hear that you got to spend time with Edward and his cdn group. Be well. Take care of yourself.
Afficionado1 Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 Hi all, What a trip this was. What should have been a week of cigars and rum ended up beeing a 3 day city trip to Cuba. But we did it our way and it was crazy. Maybe not sleeping that much made it feel as if it has been 7 days. Thanks again Nino for a great Cuba experience.
