El Presidente Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 With my impending birthday next week Di and I decided to spend the weekend away at one of our favourite destinations in Noosa Heads. For those unfamiliar with Noosa Heads, google it up. It is a 90 minute drive north of Brisbane and on most days absolute paradise. The beach faces due North and is protected from the predominant South Easterlies this time of year. The restaurants magnificent as are the wine bars and coffee shops. We are staying at Netanya on the beach in a studio penthouse overlooking the main beach complete with private rooftop spa. Cigar wise this weekend I thought I would bring something different in every cigar I have hated over the past 12 months in order to change the environment and see if that changes the experience. It hasn't Great time. Tapping this out as I look over this view with a bottle of Red and a Monte Petit 2. What are your favourite weekend getaways? 3
dangolf18 Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Hmm sounds great. I've heard of Noosa only because it's the name of an Australian imported yoghurt we have in the states.
Puros Y Vino Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 My favorite weekend getaway during the summer is my own backyard. Some grilling, some wine, a bit of reading and a good cigar. During the winter a week in Cuba or Mexico is prescribed.
Maplepie Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 My favorite weekend getaway during the summer is my own backyard. or head into the city with the Hilton or Sheraton booked and meet up with some chaps and smoke downtown somewhere
Mr.T Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Looks like a great spot! That would be visiting the family cabin, spending time on the lake, fishing, swimming, drinking beer, smoking and taking in the stillness of a lake on a summers evening listening to the call of a loon...ah seems very distant given the long and very cold winter we are experiencing Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
OZCUBAN Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Glad your having a ball mate you deserve it my favourite weekend get away of the last couple of years has been BRISBANE
Hafner32 Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Our family tries to get to NYC for a weekend every spring/summer. There is so much to do and see that the kids have a ball. With three kids, it's tough to get away for a couples weekend although we are hoping to try and squeeze in a 4 day trip to Vegas next fall!
Guest Robo Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Ha! I've visited Noosa Heads way back in 2001. I just stopped by on my way to Frasier Island to snap some photos, like the one below.
El Presidente Posted February 8, 2014 Author Posted February 8, 2014 That is "Hells Gates" in the Noosa national Park. Faces due east and takes the full brunt of the Pacific ocean. On a Westerly wind/swell it is as calm as a lake and you can safely take a boat in there to snorkel From our place it is a 45 minute walk, Great scenic walk along the many coves of the National Park.

Jeremy Festa Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Love Noosa! My pick would have to Sunshine Beach. Mainly for the surf. Although had some cracking lefts in the Noosa River mouth, many moons ago. And make sure you head to Wasabi, next to Ricky's if you haven't already been! ;-)
Guest Robo Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 As you are aware, Queensland has one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline anywhere in the world. I rented a car and drove from Brisbane to Cape Tribulation, stopping anywhere and everywhere I could. It's hard to say, but my favourite spot was probably the Whitsunday Islands. We took a boat tour around the islands and stopped at a deserted beach. Our group were the only ones on the beach... just beautiful.
TiminBC Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 A magic spot for sure. I live on an island that many people escape to so most weekends so I when want to get away I just pick a beach or park I know is less visited. To get away from the tourist crowd I head up the west coast of Vancouver island as it is less favored and life seems a little slower.
Orion21 Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 My favorite escape is Napa/Sonoma in California. Closely followed by La Jolla and Laguna Beach. Laguna Beach has a great cigar shop that has an amazing view of the ocean, with an outdoor bar. It doesn't get much better.
bigharpoon Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Not a weekend getaway but my friends and I always take a winter vacation into Maine's Baxter State Park. This year's trip is only two weeks away! It's a 16.5 mile hike in to get to Mt. Katahdin: We spend our days hiking, climbing, tele-skiing and (of course) smoking cigars: Our lodging: It's not a trip many would enjoy but for us it's an awesome vacation. I bring cigars for everybody. For many this is the only occasion all year when they smoke a cigar at all. Good times.
jtvrtas Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Enjoy your weekend, Prez. It looks and sounds great!
Puros Y Vino Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 or head into the city with the Hilton or Sheraton booked and meet up with some chaps and smoke downtown somewhere Never smoked at either of those spots. A bunch of us do meet around Yorkville when Spring/Summer hits. Are you downtown GTA or the burbs?
Maplepie Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Never smoked at either of those spots. A bunch of us do meet around Yorkville when Spring/Summer hits. Are you downtown GTA or the burbs? technically both, Frank but thought that LCDH got rid of the patio after the new "no smoking in private public places" act happened?
Puros Y Vino Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 technically both, Frank but thought that LCDH got rid of the patio after the new "no smoking in private public places" act happened? That hasn't happened yet. It's a health by-law, not a city one. It has to be enforced by public health officers.
Skyfall Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Enjoy ya'll's weekend, looks like a great place.
khomeinist Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Kilifi, Kenya is my favorite getaway spot. I am partial to the Indian Ocean.

Maplepie Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 That hasn't happened yet. It's a health by-law, not a city one. It has to be enforced by public health officers. interesting. cheers for the information. you'll see me 'round...
