poisonowns Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Hey guys I'm new here and new to CCs in general, and am looking to get some feedback. So I understand how aging is beneficial for Cubans, and I'm willing to do my due diligence and buy some boxes to set aside for down the road. With that said, does anyone have any recommendations for any cigars that are currently smoking well young? I prefer medium-full bodied smokes, and generally reach for a robusto, but am open to trying other things that may offer a good experience. Thoughts?
Hiroshiro Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Upmann Connie As , Partagas D 4s, Monte 2s, Upmann 2s, from what I have tried on the Regular production
Phillys Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 I have trouble finding recent production cigars that DON'T smoke well young, there are probably many (or not), but I haven't bought any in the past year, except VR Famoso and a few RE'st that I haven't tried yet. For robustos I find the following have been smoking well lately young: RASS, PSD4, HDM epi 2, 2012 CoRo Also, Monte 2-4 and PE, HUPC, HURR, HUHC, Mag 46, PLMC, and the list goes on...
LordAnubis Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Hupmann Half Corona are good young. There are a few threads on good young cigars... browse through them as well mate. http://www.friendsofhabanos.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=116203&hl=young http://www.friendsofhabanos.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=115925&hl=young http://www.friendsofhabanos.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=116055&hl=young
bresdogsr Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 I've had some good young HU connie #1 and PSD4 Sent from my SM-T310 using Tapatalk
Philprop Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 I've found my box of MAR 13 RA Superiores to be smoking very good, I only have 4 left and it is really hard not to grab one every time I open th humi to get a smoke. Also my box of FEB 13 Boli PC's are smoking great.
cigaraholic Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 The best young robusto I have ever smoked......SLR Regios.
buckwylde Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Bolivar Roya Coronas, Bolivar Petite Coronas, RASS, CoRo, Partagas Shorts and SC DLP are some of my go-to cigars when I need something that does't take lots of age. Also, I believe that some CC have a point of maturity when extra aging not only doesn't benefit the cigar but actually makes it worse. Case in point, I have a box of RASS from 2005 that has consistently dissapointed me recently while a rather fresh box from 2011 blows my mind each time I dip in to it. Of course more factors (good year, good harvest, etc) could impact this; however, I've found this with several vitolas in the past.
Laxman Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Right now that I have smoked the top few are H Upmann Epicure #2's, Juan Lopez #2's, RASS 50 cabinets, Monte 2's. All 3 have been lights outs. Juan Lopez selection #4, H Upmann Royal Robusto and La Flora Grandioso amazing also but more expansive then regular production cigars.
Skyfall Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 I never really cared for HDM Epi 2's in the past, UNTIL I got some 2013's in tubes. Fantastic! Been burning through them.
ramon_cojones Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 going to have to look into this upmann epicure 2

I think this could be the exception to the rule as far aged cc go,most but not all the 2005 were not that great.
Armaniac Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 JLS2, PSD4, RASS, HDM epi2, can't really go wrong with any of these. Another cigar I thought was superb, and maybe I got lucky with the few I tried because no one seems to care for these, was the SCdlH La Fuerza.
poisonowns Posted January 19, 2014 Author Posted January 19, 2014 Thanks a lot for all the input guys. I went with a box of RASS, PSD4, and JL2.
