ramon_cojones Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 very plausible btw, I am stunned by the number of guys complaining about their recently acquired box of RASS. I'm glad I've replaced them with the Superiores three years ago… quite the opposite, that's the first complaint i've seen and i'm stunned by the number of people who have been blown away by recent production rass
pbibby Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 I highly doubt that they contain anything but cuban tobacco. The two recent RASS I have had have been absolutely fantastic.
Jah Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 I highly doubt that they contain anything but cuban tobacco. The two recent RASS I have had have been absolutely fantastic. Maybe they should start using non-Cuban tobacco, at least then it will be fermented properly. Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk
Guest rob Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 Maybe they should start using non-Cuban tobacco, at least then it will be fermented properly. Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk I'm curious, but of all the things that could have been wong, what is it that leads you to believe that a lack of fermentation was the problem with your smokes?
Rye Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 I have had extremely good luck with my 2013 choices, and I tend to lean toward liking the majority of what I smoke, as opposed to many that just ***** about nearly every cigar that wasn't rolled in the 80's or 90's. If I had to pick a dud box, I would have to go with the Raphael Gonzales Panetelas extra, as about half have been either flat, plugged, or exploded upon cutting, but for the price, no love lost.
kidmac Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 An empty one! Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
mash Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 HU Robustos. Hopefully these get better with age.
polarbear Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 HU Robustos. Hopefully these get better with age. Everything I've read about these has said they need at least 5 years before they are smokable I've avoided them for this reason and went with the Royal Robustos instead

I'm going to try one in another year, and see how they are then.
NMJoe Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Cohiba Genios by a furlong! I've had three from OCT 11 and each has tasted like a $2 NC. I'm so happy I invested in a box.
Jah Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 I'm curious, but of all the things that could have been wong, what is it that leads you to believe that a lack of fermentation was the problem with your smokes? The fact that they tasted like hot garbage on fire. Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk
Hash Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Not any particular boxes, these days you have mixed reactions to cigars from the same box , some are excellent , others are a disappointment, no consistency.
Dimmers Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 I am most disappointed/sad about a cherished box of HQ Monte 2’s from 2011. But it’s a bit of a story - we have just gone through process of selling our place and buying another place. Thermo wineador lived offsite (with family member) for duration. I didn’t check in on it for over a month as we had so much on…. and it has been so rock solid for me to date. But the fridge had the knack of resetting to lowest setting (12c) whenever turned off…. So apparently a power cut at some point, and temp setting drops to trying to push out 12c in recent hot weather. Monte box on lowest shelf near lowest fan at rear. At some point condensation forms and drip drip drip onto this box. Half box is ruined/ moldy, other half now on life support with some hope of recovery. Lesson learned!
Surucipe Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 I like my RAEs. They were also the last of the somewhat reasonably priced LEs before HSA went nuts with only $15+/stick releases. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk x4 I like my RAEs a lot! Went through half a box this year and they were all good. I have another box that I intend to give another 2-3 years of sleep, just to see how they evolve.
Jah Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 You smoke hot garbage on fire? LOL Apparently every time I light up a RASS. Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk

I'm glad I've replaced them with the Superiores three years ago… Yes superiores with an MUR code I have are real nice. But, Have you smoked any RASS from 2012 or 2013 with an MUR Code ? The cigar is blended.very well. I have multiples of each year. But then again, nothing suprizes me from cuba.
Maxismoke Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 I know pretty much everyone disagrees, but 520 and 1966 are both huge let downs for me this year.
nikesupremedunk Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 You are alone on the 520 but 1966 I agree with you. A good cigar but not a 50 dollar cigar.
Tino Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 You are alone on the 520 but 1966 I agree with you. A good cigar but not a 50 dollar cigar. Nike, is that the '66 on your avatar?
BonVivant Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 I know pretty much everyone disagrees, but 520 and 1966 are both huge let downs for me this year. Agreed
MC4 Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 520 is not so special and 1966 is good but not worth the price.
nikesupremedunk Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 Nike, is that the '66 on your avatar? Yes, they look much better than they smoke!
BonVivant Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 adding LFDC and ERDM releases to the equation - HSA is on a roll,
