Haha. Wow!

I now get the feeling he is a little more switched on than we think.

Maybe taking a leaf from Boris Johnson's conspicuous approach, and getting Toronto some global attention?

Quote of The year " I have plenty off ***** to eat at home". Next question...

He is the unfortunate gift that just keeps on giving for Toronto. Kinda like herpes.

I just can't get over why he doesn't up and quit, and surprised he's not in matching bracelets yet / right now. Such a media circus.

I hear the phone ringing....

Line one: The WWE. "Can you guest host"

Line two: Aled Baldwin. "Thanks for getting me off page 1 of TMZ"

Line three: Miley Cyrus. "Damn you. now I have to do something even crazier to get back on page 1 of TMZ!"

Voted and passed, removed his powers as mayor today, regular city official, staff and salary unless decisions in city emergency from the top. Still title of mayor, but no profile or public position.

I don't know if I should feel sorry for his wife or not.Does she stay with him for the money or what? She doesn't look very happy on pictures.Somewhere she must draw the LINE.If Ford has any decency he should resign. As Nick said,I'm glad I live outside Toronto.

Oh well; the late night comedians are saying prayers of thanks for this guy

Politicians are a breed apart and rarely in a good sense.

That poor wife of his. The kind of spouse you hear described as "long-suffering"..

Based on him having plenty of "Meat" at home to eat, I would disagree. Shes probably very happy!! :jester:

i suspect that the wife must be a real piece of work as well.

i see he has been removed? sort of?

as truly abysmal as he is, and lord knows we have more than our fair share of gibbering morons, fools and now another buffoon with the balance of senate power, where the hell are the rest of canada's politicians? i have no idea how it works for his position but is he part of a party? can the council impeach/expel him? if so, shame on the lot of them for not having done it.

one thing to have a moron loose. we all cop that now and again, but if the rest are standing by, that is, to me, something that brings far greater shame on toronto/canada.

maybe the system prevents them doing anything but that was not the message i was getting. more that no one wants to do anything. i tried looking it up.

"the council have voted to limit his powers." the council should not allow him to do up his own shoelaces, let alone leave him with anything.

the ontario premier will do something if the council asks? spineless and arse covering.

"councillors turned their backs on him"? next he won't be allowed in the same sandpit. what a brave way to take a stance! what a crock.

"Councillor John Fillion said ahead of the vote that the aim was to "try to contain the mayor so that he doesn't bring down the reputation of council or of the city."" SERIOUSLY?? is he delusional? no disrespect to our sealbasher brethren but toronto now has a rep right down there with sodom and gommorah. it is an international joke - thanks to this bloke and those who've allowed it. can he not see that? i come from queensland so i speak with some experience of grubby politicians making a laughing stock of your home.

as for the moron himself, "I have no other options but to challenge this in court," he said."This will be precedent-setting and if we move ahead with this, then obviously if someone else steps out of line like I have, it is going to affect councillors and the mayor I think for years to come," he said.

so in other words, he knows he has made a giant mess but wants to hang on to power at any cost, including degrading the city he supposedly represents because, wait for it... "if someone else steps out of line like i have", he wants them to get away with it as well??????.

so he wants any future morons protected as well. that is the reason he gives?

any canadian politician who doesn't do everything possible to get rid of scum like this idiot should also go.

that said, glad it is not us and it is wildly entertaining

Ken, if everything in your post was possible, believe me it would happened. Municipal government here cannot remove its mayor. The premier only steps in if the city itself proves to be dysfunctional, and she was on the cusp if the city had not worked it out yesterday.

The most the municipal government can do until election time is strip the mayor of his power and public profile, staff and high salary. This is strong stuff and a first here in Toronto.

ta for that. helps explain things a bit. tried finding out but not easy to get definitive answers.

was not having a go at toronto specifically - same goes for all politicians everywhere when faced with this.
