Livo Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Straight forward question. Found some good reviews of both on the forum, but thought I would see what folks thought in a direct comparison. Thanks in advance!
Wil Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 I prefer the Epi 1, although both have been great lately. The Epi 1 is a beautiful mild to medium smoke. Nice woody profile and very aromatic.
Stanislaw Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 i'm a devout No.2 guy... not sure how it happened, just always seemed to be the one I would reach for when I was visiting the tobacconist... would love to hear comparisons myself....
jrb5783 Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 I've had one epi 1 and one epi 2 I liked the epi one better I think I'm gonna buy a box of those soon
Hazza Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Only ever had one epi 1, bought single so no idea on age/box code, but I found it just didn't have the same character as the 2's, it was quite bland. May be an age thing as my 2's had some rest time in the humi
Lotusguy Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 I like the Epi 1 better but the Epi 2 is by no means a bad smoke.
Pilgrims Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 prefer size of the 1's but the 2's seem to have been particularly good of late...
Surucipe Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Have a box of Jun 12 Epi 2’s and they’re smoking great! No experience with the Epi 1, but I do like their size.
Chelsea8 Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Only ever had one epi 1, bought single so no idea on age/box code, but I found it just didn't have the same character as the 2's, it was quite bland. May be an age thing as my 2's had some rest time in the humi Agree on the bland Epi 1s. All the Epi 1s I have tried have been too mild and rather bland - whether young or with up to 5 years age. Epi 2 for me.
jedipastor Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 I love all the Epicures, the Especial being my favorite, followed by the #2, but the #1 is excellent and milder, if that's important for you. I find the EE and #2 to be solid mediums, though I haven't had either with more than 4-yrs age.
dangolf18 Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Epi 1 tubos, then Epi 2, then regular Epi 1.
Rye Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Of those two, the Epi 1 when they're on. But my preferred Epi is the especial. (Or the double but the price and availability sucks)
zmancbr Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Toss me in the Epi 1 column. Always thought I would love the #2 more but when I finally popped my Epi cherry it was the #1 that stole my attention. So much that I grabebd a cab a few years back and they are smoking quite well right now. Will have to give a current production #2 a chance to dethrone the 1 but I'm not counting on it.
Livo Posted February 26, 2013 Author Posted February 26, 2013 Looks like a pretty even match so far. Fun thread. Thanks for the feedback!
Charltonc Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 I went through an excellent box of 05 Epicure no. 1, but I have been buying more fresh epicure no. 2 lately, just did a box split with a friend. I enjoy the epicure series quite a bit.
