Folks this is a long story so settle down....

When I started my cigar journey last year, Partagas D4's were the Robusto to smoke so I bought six from different sources. All bar one were rubbish so I gave up on Cuban cigars and moved to Nicaragua for my smokes.

I then found FOH and the real journey began..

One year on and I discovered a single D4 in my humidor and WOW, what a fine smoke. So I took a punt (risk) and purchased a PSP box from Rob.

They arrived today, I took one out for a closer look, couldn't fit it back into the box, so I smoked it .....

Now I'm not good at picking flavour in a cigar, (it is yum or crap). But this PSP D4 was really good. The box is 2012 so it is young but it reminded me of wet cut grass and took me back to mowing the lawn at my parents house during the Summer holidays. It was England in June so it rained a lot. Hence the wet grass.

I will now hide the box for a couple of years and the wet grass will turn into warm hay and remind me of Autumn in England...

I can't wait.

So big thanks to Rob for putting me in touch with fine cigar.

nice.... legendary smokes, those, one of my personal favorites.... is it possible you bought one of the 99-00 cigars that had the blending issues....?

i remember my first cuban was a montecristo no.4 and when I smoked it i thought it was too strong and not very good (this after smoking nothing but Fuentes) but for some reason i bought another one... then it all made sense....

Nice pick up Clive. I was seriously contemplating pulling the trigger on those D4s but decided against it due to Robusto overload in my humidor. They're a funny smoke the D4s. Had some that were pretty terrible and nearly turned me off them (not from our gracious host i might add) yet came across a couple that completely blew me away. Those already look sensational, by the time you wake them up again I'll bet they'll be ridiculously good. Enjoy!

A delicious looking smoke you got there. I am a fan of the PSD4's.

I also find them to be very hit and miss. I do not buy boxes of them any more. If they come in when I buy assorted lots once in a while so be it.

I would say you are missing out Lisa. If you want to purchase a sampler, I'd ask for 2012:

PL P/MC

HU C#1

Party D4

JL #2/PC

QdO Corona

Siglo I

These are smoking very well right out the gate.

I will never buy a box of D4. Too many complaints about inconsistency and bad flavor. For Partagas flavor, I am hooked on the Shorts, they are not robusto sized but they are very consistent in construction and flavor. For a robusto, I will take the RASS and BRC any day.

Only one on this list remotely of interest is the PLPC. And I bought a box.

Will stick to my Upmann Connie #1's as my go to Robusto. (well semi robusto as it is actually a hermosa #4)

i wouldn't say I've ever had a bad PSD4. They are a little bit harsh though when fresh (less than a year of age).

I love the D4! If you get anything PSP from Rob, it's not going to be bad.

Great review &comments Clive

Though cigars maybe inconsistent at times, it's these wonderful surprises that keep me trying different marcas & viotolas

Holy crap. I ordered the first day the post was up and mine are still on the bottom of the globe. I need to upgrade to platinum membership.
