Hubba Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 Yup not shy to admit i'm i buy my wife flowers. Kinda humorous to hear people say $50 is a waste of money for a small gift to a loved one. All this nonsense about its sooo commercial.....who cares?? I have $50 go up in smoke every week.
Diamondog Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 Had to do things a little different this year. The children will be around this evening so in order to get some adult time in, we did ours last last night. A nice quiet dinner and I got her some diamond earrings. I'm a romantic, sue me. Trust me, WAS married for 15 years and know all too well about taking/being taken for granted. Homy don't play that anymore...

LeafLover Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 I always get something for my wife on Valentine's Day. Going to look for a Blu-Ray player for her as we speak.
LGC Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 I prefer to buy flowers for my wife when she doesn't expect it, not when marketers tell me I'm supposed to do so. Spending 50, 100, 500 bucks doesn't necessarily equate with love and commitment. I find that taking the time and effort to do something for your SO means much more. Do the laundry, put away your clothes, clean up the house, detail her car, set a nice table, and cook a tasty meal. A successful relationship shouldn't hinge on one day out of the year, but every day.
canadianbeaver Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 Talk about Valentinus Interruptus!!! A knock at the door just delivered a huge box with ribbons and and a box of flowers... but alas they are for the witch who lives next store, who is not home. BLEH.
celtmick1984 Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 Good timing . . . apparently in honor of the great Western holiday of love, Cuba has announced the Romeo y Julieta Churchill Reserva's release. http://www.habanos.c...le.aspx?aid=610. 20 units? I thought it was going to be 15. Certainly won't buy a box at whatever that price will be. Oh, Happy Valentine's day; show some love to your favorite cigar.
Bartolomeo Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 I think you should treat your woman the same 365 days a year.......that being said, as a single guy I have a hot date tonight so I am partaking in the festivities Bart
Drguano Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 Today is Valentines day. I was wondering what people are doing for it or if indeed they partake in it. My wife and I do not partake. We really dont need to be reminded by commercialistic interests that we need to express our love, by buying each other a giant card, or spending a fortune in a restaurant or on roses, on a specific day. As far as we are concerned. Every day should be Valentines day. So...you forgot that it was today? Me too. I hustled onto the Internet and sent flowers to her classroom at school. Happy wife, happy life is exactly correct!
ebhead Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 ....any time to spoil her is time well spent... E (The P is silent)
andy Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 Its nice to do something that makes your wife happy. If that means buying in to commercialisation a couple of times a year for valentines, mothers day etc then so be it.
celtmick1984 Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 So...you forgot that it was today? Me too. I hustled onto the Internet and sent flowers to her classroom at school. Happy wife, happy life is exactly correct! Righto!
perfectform Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 Valentine's day makes most women happy. I like to make my woman happy. Hence, I do things for her for Valentine's day. I'm with Lisa. Do something. My boss has this same "tough guy, I don't buy into it, hallmark holiday blah blah blah mentality" Makes me laugh.
Cohiba Stevie Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 I bought my girlfriend a Chinese aromatherapy massage and nail treatment. She bought me 3 Cohiba piramide extras and nice bottle of Pinot noir... I'm not complaining.
PigFish Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 ... does cleaning up after your wife's horses count??? -LOL I am gonna' get Lady Piggy some flowers. Maybe she needs a new climate controlled humidor. I will have to ask! -the Pig
Drguano Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 ... does cleaning up after your wife's horses count??? -LOL I really misread this at first...
Hypersomniac Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 Just got back from Vegas and my girlfriend is already back on the road to get to more doctors appointments; so nothing for us.
PigFish Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 I really misread this at first... We have two mares! Done that too!!! All a part of good-horse-keeping! -Piggy
Charltonc Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 Some days I hate my job. I asked my client that was mandated to anger management if he was going to do anything for valentine's day for his wife, and he replied, " I am not going to throw her a beating tonight, isn't that a gift in itself." Ignorance at its best and yes he has an obama phone and an EBT card. On another note, I bought my fiance an orchid and some other things and we are going out to a nice dinner on Saturday as we both work tonight.

Relevance of the Obama phone/EBT card? I went overboard. Flowers. Bag. Other gifts. She gave me a son this past year. She deserves it!!!
Diamondog Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Best Valentine's day ever! Greeted at the door 15 minutes ago by my special lady friend pint of Rum and Coke in hand, smoked meat pizza on the table, heater on in my back room, and instructions to pick a cigar to smoke tonight. Damn straight. V-day goes both ways! Such a massively ludicrous, not to mention highly sexist, "holiday"... Being that 50%+ marriages end in divorce maybe its something that should be paid a little more attention to lol
khomeinist Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Agreed. It is once a year. Is worth the effort IMO. Sexist is sitting on your ass expecting dinner 365 days a year. Lmao!
