As some of you may know me, I'm a regular CC smoker . Altough I have my preferences, I kind of easily fall on my regular go to cigars like Edmundos, Genios and some P2's...

Being a finished Cohiba fan, I had never smoked a Lancero ( I know, what a shame) ... Until now. Wow, what a nice stick. So smooth and subtle.

What is your wow moment of 2012? Your siscovery of the year?

I would have to say learning more about EDRM. The few that I have smoked have been just a joy to smoke. Such a different flavour profile than what I am used to.

Looks like 2013 will be focused on stocking up on EDRM.

My wow moment of 2012 has been some very nice monte petit edmundo's. Never been a big fan of montes. However i got some 07 petit edmundo's that have just been fantastic. Just pure christmas pudding.

2009 Rafael Gonzalez Corona Extras

I can't say if I've had one this year. Last year it was a Monte Sublime. This year, I smoked some supposedly great sticks like the 2009 Boli Germany RE Especial No. 2, 2005 Partagas P2, early 2000's Monte A, but I didn't get that "WOW" moment like that Sublime.

I would have to say that the 2008 Mag 46, 2008 Bolivar CG, and 2007 Boli CE (all from 50 cabs) were the highlights of this year. Undeniably rich and fantastic representatives of their marca.

Well who sent you that David? lol

Some tease named Simon, now I'm consumed with stocking up. Thanks alot.

Boli RC - at one time a misfit in my small but cherished Boli universe, but now firmly entrenched for it's gentle yet flavorful personality.

So maybe that is not exactly what was meant by WOW factor; more of a developed appreciation spelled wowwww.

My cigar revelation for this year was "better stock up on you like now, otherwise, HSA will delete it in favour of some true, put a second band on it and sell it for triple the price". Took me a few years to realize that simply because something is "limited" doesn't mean it is rare or hard to find, and just because something is more expensive or bigger, doesn't mean it is better. Wish I learned this years ago instead of wasting coin and humidor space on so much junk put out by RA, Cohiba, and the rest of the EL,RE, Premium lines...

Get ready for those Rafael Gonzales LE in 3 years... Seriously

This!!!!

My cigar revelation though.... Monte especial. WOW what a cigar that was. Also this year i have noticed that i am having so much more luck with the long/short skinnies.. (almost everyone has been superb) than the larger RG's. TBH i'm getting sick of been let down by the bigger ones.. (Partagas Luci.. not included though, they have been such a joy)

^ along the lines of the last part of shlomos post..

Don't ever buy another overhyped EL cigar. Ever.

The regular releases suit me just fine. And they don't all taste the same.

Bolivar belicosos finos, been a huge winner this year. Christmas cake, earth and middle eastern spices

My revelation cigar has been the Montecristo 520 that hit the shelves in HAV when I was there.

Smoked a few and they were outstanding. Look forward to continue smoking them in 3 months time back there.

The Monte 520 has calmed down a lot since February. I've had a couple in the last couple of weeks and they've been very nice.

For me this year,

Highs

Rafael Gonzalez Perla, smoked a box of them in 2 weeks in Spain, every one lovely.

Por Larranaga Legendario Spanish RE, great flavours and balanced for a young cigar, one of the better regionals I've had in a long time.

Low

Punch Medalla d'Oro UK RE. Gack. Overpriced gack.

a few but the highlight was not one I expected it to be...Cohiba 1966. Now I am not much of a Cohiba person but I had one at a cigar bar as the prices were very fair and I thought when-else will I? It was very enjoyable and gave me faith in some of those who had been raving about it when I, cynically, thought they can't be that good...

Discovered the world of customs this year. Brought back with me many Santos/Reynaldo customs from my trip to Cuba. The best was a Luis Hector farmie gifted to me by another BOTL, I swear I could detect over 15 flavors from that robusto

The 520s are quite good for a young cigar. Both the festival and current releases are consistent, in flavour, construction and quality of tobacco. A winner in my books .
