Whilst most Havana fans tend to talk a lot about “full-bodied” smokes, we tend to forget, or overlook, the great mild Havanas out there.

I for one Love H.Upmann Petit Coronas , and the Por Larranage of the same size, add to that list cigars like Hoyo De Monterrey Double Coronas and others. These smokes might have a light body strength but still deliver a great flavour and complexity that many non-Cuban “full-bodied” cigars cannot match.

What is your favourite mild Havana?

In a Corona I would have to say the Quai D'orsay. In a Corona Gorda the HDM Epi #1. The SLR DC is another great DC without knocking you for six.

LGC #1 and #4, Punch Ninfas in cabs, QDO Panatelas and Coronas, and ERDM Grandes de Españas... these are mild to medium... but still full flavored.

I don't think anybody has forgotten them and there surely aren't many full bodied CCs on the market.

That's good news! I still think there are a number of full bodied CCs out there, or maybe I'm just a softy:)

I gave a Fonseca No.1 to a fellow cigar lover while still in Atlanta. The mildest most non-descript cigar Havana makes. He told me he had to go lie down afterwards! R U KIDDING?????? This is a hefty, drinkin' police detective who can handle all kinds of chases, fights, good eating, and so on. He told me that and I got in his stuff so incredulous and all. I said,"You've GOT to be funnin' me. That's the mildest cigar out of Havana! HOW can you say that was too much for you??" He got a little mad and said "Yeah, I had to lay down, it was real strong!" Go figure. It's never affected ME that way and I'm a girl! :blonde:

+2, but you are starting to see the new trend right? The past couple years have given us some strong suckers. pooped.gif

Unfortunately that entire list (minus the QDO coronas) is HTF.....

You forget that he stopped buying cigars 10 years ago. :P

Recent Fonseca have been extremely strong compared to the older variety. I actually couldn't smoke half of a recent Cosacos, and I have heard from others that the #1s are as well.

This was back in 1999 when both the Fonseca No.1's and Invictos could still be found. And still mild IMHO

This is not true IMHO.

QdeO Coronas, RyJ Cedro #1s and Fonseca #1s have a lot of flavor. I prefer strong cigars, but will happily smoke those three anytime. All need a few years age to shine.

I'm a full-bodied cigar lover, but the only Habano I've found to be "full" is the R&J Caz, though the Boli CE is close. There are some medium-full ones (Mag 46, RASS, Party 898 and P2, Boli PC), and a lot of mediums (to me). Funny enough, a lot of guys consider the R&J Short Churchill to be mild, but I've always found it closer to medium (maybe I'm smoking them too young?).

I also like a milder stick in the morning, though, if there is enough flavor. I LOVE HdMs, Trinidad, and a Cohiba that's "on". The PLPC is great too, and of course the Monte A. I recently had a Sancho Panza cg, though, and that was too mild for me in terms of flavor. For a mild cigar to work for me, it needs to be flavorful and CREAMY, mmmmm. I smoked a Quesada Jalapa this morning which hit the spot (non-Cuban, obviously).

I'd like to try a QdO. I have a few Fonseca but haven't tried one yet.

i find very few habanos to be even medium strength/body...to me they are almost all on the strong side.

even the '00 editions are ramping up nicely in the strength/flavour department.

age them right and reap the benefits.

In terms of a mild-flavored cigar, the Quai d'Orsay Coronas are awesome. i had the chance to smoke one recently at the Casa in Montreal and it was really, phenomenally good.

Floral notes like i've read in some reviews, very complex flavor profile and very unexpectedly, something that I like.

I will be getting a box when my finances allow.

Agreed Derrek. Medium to full has been my experience as well, for the most part

I think many people mistake calling a cigar with a very high nicotine content as full bodied. I would say a cigar is full bodied if it has those dark brooding flavors some people love. A mild cigar like a Fonseca 1 can be mild and have a lot of nicotine and lay someone out.

Personally, I interpret cigars as I do with wine. I am no wine aficionado but submit this as a simplified guide.

Body is the weight across the palate. It is your interpretation of how strength and concentration hits your palate. Usually, since body describes the subjective interpretation of 2 factors, people subconsciously (and rightly so) divide it out further to, "fullness of strength" and "fullness of flavor (concentration)." When you can gauge the depth of concentration and the corresponding balance, you can describe the intensity, being rich and viscous.

Rafael Gonzalez PCs, lighter bodied but wonderful flavours-I love these things!

I love the RG CE. I don't know why I purchased a box but I'm happy I did! I how is the PC by comparison?
