Bongmeister Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 I was pleasantly surprised when my wonderful wife returned from Surfers Paradise last week with a couple of singles of these beautiful cigars for me. Safely stashed in the humidor with the intent of leaving them there until my next birthday!?!? I'll try anyway! LOL
nikesupremedunk Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 Insane price... Those of you that tried these, how do they differ from a regular Monte 2?
El Presidente Posted October 10, 2012 Author Posted October 10, 2012 PM sent......Box 3121 Great choice mate
sblevit Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 Insane price... Those of you that tried these, how do they differ from a regular Monte 2? Totally different from a regular Monty 2 -- much richer. But I think they pale in comparison to the 2007 Reservas. Perhaps they just need some more time.
mk05 Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 Not the same cigar as to regular #2's. These will need a very long time, or they just suck. Personally, I think they're not worth the trouble...then again, you have those types out there who look at the Cohiba GR collection on their spreadsheets.
mbmacri Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 PM sent for the second box. I managed to purchased a box earlier this year and they are suberb!!!
El Presidente Posted October 10, 2012 Author Posted October 10, 2012 Not the same cigar as to regular #2's. These will need a very long time, or they just suck. Personally, I think they're not worth the trouble...then again, you have those types out there who look at the Cohiba GR collection on their spreadsheets. And there are those who enjoy them. Those to whom who the coin is not that important for various reasons. Having spent time and shared cigars with many at all echelons of the cigar scale, roping them into a single category is slightly crass. You want them, can afford them, enjoy. There should be no "Tall Poppy Syndrome" or home spun psychoanalysis attached. God knows those who bought the Bolivar China Distinguidos Jar for the same dollars could sell them for twice the purchase price today (12 months later). Relax. Take a Panadol. Enjoy your cigar of choice
ramon_cojones Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 lol @ shlomo you been on a roll lately thankfully things like this don't interest me look great though
WarriorPrincess Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 Both SOLD and to the two lucky guys who picked them, WELL DONE
El Presidente Posted October 10, 2012 Author Posted October 10, 2012 Did I just miss the sale of the week??? You never know (nor do I ) what happens on FOH
mk05 Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 My message had nothing to do with roping anyone into one side for psychoanalysis, sorry if there appeared to be any pretense. People are going to do what they want to do with their assets, as is their prerogative. The message was to convey that for many, expectations may not be met. Let me rephrase that sentence to delineate exactly what I meant: Not the same cigar as to regular #2's. These will need a very long time, or they just suck. Personally, I think they're not worth the trouble...then again, you have those types out there who look at the Cohiba GR collection on their spreadsheets. I'm merely commenting on aforementioned and unmentioned questions and expectations prevalent to this cigar experience, as that's what cigars are: that it is a very different cigar than a #2 - since that is what people are mainly expecting or have been drawing comparisons to; it may be in need of a long nap, or it may not be that great of a cigar; the value proposition for the provincial/casual smoker is pretty much non-existent, thus presents an unsatisfactory response; stocking up on this program - as with other very limited programs - caters to another demography, who have stocked on, for example, Cohiba GR's (this part may not have made sense to some, as when some buy cigars, they buy in bulk, not a box or three). I was trying to sound impartial on it, looks like I failed!

canadianbeaver Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 Congrats on this wonderful buy lads! When in Amsterdam Didi at LCDH was generous enough to give one empty box of the GR, and one of the RR, complete with cloth etc. This will be as close as I get and I will treasure them for life. Enjoy!
CaptainQuintero Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 Thanks for the sale Rob! It's great just to see the pictures never mind buying them, congrats to those who picked them up. I think Trevor may have some visitors bringing gifts some time soon! Well said and about time. X2 the green eyed monster is lurking everywhere these days it seems
Dbone Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 Wow, couple of nice boxes. Congrats to those who grabbed them. Smoke in good health brothers
