ptrthgr8 Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 I just can't stand that guy... even if I do agree with him on that one part. Vampire Hitlers are absurdly evil. But it doesn't make me like Bill Maher any more than I did before. He's such a tool. Cheers, ~ Greg ~
IcedCanuck Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 I tend to like most of what Bill Maher says but not all. He definitely hit the nail right on the head with that one.
IShotAManInReno Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 Starts at 2:30. "Fidel Castro is not worse than Vampire Hitler." http://youtu.be/xB2TgcS8UFc Hilarious and thought provoking. Thanks for sharing! : )
cigcars Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 I LOVE Bill Maher! And yes, anytime you agree w/somebody 100% that's when you're in danger of drinking Kool-aid. And yes, I think it's safe to say MOST of the American public shares the very same views on the subject. And with that I'll leave it be due to the no-American politics topic on this site.
cgarner Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 Bill mahar says some of the most degrading remarks about people he doesn't agree with to try and undermined their viewpoint. IMHO there is no place for his antics
KurtE Posted April 22, 2012 Posted April 22, 2012 Really like Bill Maher, he's right. Really liked his film Religulous
smokinpeace Posted April 22, 2012 Posted April 22, 2012 Whether you agree with him or not, it's hard to deny that guy is a pretentious prick. It's pretty simple. End the embargo and you lose Florida for your party for potentially decades. The Cuban vote is that strong. Florida is too big a state to risk it. The embargo will only end if the electoral college changes (not likely given it would require and amending the constitution) or perhaps a second term President who is willing to risk it. The problem is there is virtually no reward for the risk they are taking. All that said, Mahar is right that the embargo should have ended long ago and the US supports WAY worse people than Castro.

Not sure that the Florida issue will continue to be such a huge obstacle. That generation of Cubans is fading and younger ex-pats just want to help their families at home. Plus, Obama won without Florida and if he does so again (not really a question) then he's free to change things. I hope.
Habanos2000 Posted April 22, 2012 Posted April 22, 2012 while I agree with some of Maher's comments on the video, I typically can't stomach the guy.
frenchkiwi Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 never seen the guy before but that segment was good provocative comedy. always disturbingly fun when a few offensive home truths are dished out. (not that these dudes generally write their own material!)
CanuckSARTech Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 Pretty good, and most parts were spot on. Thanks for sharing.
dan5974 Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 I don't usually agree with everything he says, but he on the Cuba part he broke it down perfect.
jedipastor Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 I hate BIll Maher, though he makes some valid points here. The main point, though, isn't that "Castro isn't as bad as other guys," it's that the Embargo isn't working, and never has. Capitalism is a stronger force than an embargo, as we've proven with China. He was dead on with one thing ... it's the Cubans in Florida that are the issue. They hate castro, so nobody in politics has the balls to end the embargo.
cigcars Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 Money, finances and revenue will ALWAYS turn untoward people around
PartiDude Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 Never made it to the Castro segment as I threw up out of my nose after two minutes of listening to Bill Maher.
