A search on the forum hasn't proved very fruitful and looking through the holy grail of cuban cigar information websites has me a little disappointed.

Are there current (or easily accessible discontinued) CC vitolas that are box pressed? I haven't had a SLR Regios yet but they look slightly pressed in some photos. I have always really enjoyed smoking boxed pressed sticks, especially the soft chewy extreme examples like Padron Annis.

Recent box (Oct 11) of Romeo y Julieta Short Churchills I have is box pressed. They're delicious too.

Anything that doesn't come in a SLB, 898, or Cabinet presentation will be box-pressed to at least some degree. Not many will be as "square" as a LFD Box-press or a Padron, though. The most box-pressed CC I ever had was a ERDM Choix Supreme.

Yes, to different degrees of course. But generally speaking, yes.

Does that weigh on your decision to purchase either a dress box or cabinet?

Thanks for the responses. The ERDM Choix Supreme is something I haven't tried but I'll admit it looks pretty tempting. Might be what I was looking for.

That's EXACTLY why I try to buy 50 cabs or at least SLB for anything I can get. I personally dislike box-press. Different strokes for different folks, of course

Yeah, sorry that's what I meant. I have two boxes that are extremely box pressed-ERDM PC's and Juan Lopez PC's.

Me at the Mambo Lounge when I sit between Art and Frank.

I think I know what you are saying and will not over think this.

Not really. Granted, many you can only buy in a dress box. Mostly it comes down to aesthetics when there is a choice between a SLB or Dress Box. Aesthetics of the cigar itself and it's packaging. The other point often referenced is the aging potential. The material used (cedar veneer) , box itself, and sliding lid tends to increase the outcome over LONG term aging... maybe 10 years plus. Again the aging discussion is very subjective and near impossible to prove, yet people are entitled to their opinion. And that's what it really boils down to, personal opinion.

I would not let it discourage your purchase decision. There are plenty of us who even keep cigars in their cardboard box 5 packs LOL

It's a fun journey, enjoy the ride :peace:

I was thinking about this this morning and I notice when smoking either a San Cristobal or an RASS Box Pressed cigar, by the time you get to the last third, the are round again.

Just saying.

I find that most pressed habanos "plump up" once they heat up a bit.

On a side note, I think it might be worth keeping in mind that many pressed NCs are intentionally pressed prior to boxing, while Cuban cigars

end up pressed as a result of boxing (in dress boxes), hence "box press".

I prefer my cigars in the round.....

I think this really gets to the essence of what I was trying to ask. Thank you.

A lot of NCs try to capture something that was originally Cuban. That is why I was curious if any CCs were intentionally pressed as a lot of the NCs that I enjoy. I guess the NC market has taken an accidental shipping "hazard" and made it a trait they want to accentuate and market.

CCs seem to be following the trend of fatter cigars that one could argue was led by the NC market. It will be interesting to see if Habanos ever offer an intentionally box pressed vitola.
