gersonmorelli Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 So I just happened to run accross a box of 2000 Hoyo des Dieux. The box looks PSP great, from a guarantee B&M vendor. My question is how much do you think this is worth? Or at least what would be a close estimate of the MSRP? I am finding the price too expensive. Tks!
shrink Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 I wouldn't buy the box, unless I was able to smoke a sample. Too many good 2003 boxes still available.
gersonmorelli Posted March 30, 2012 Author Posted March 30, 2012 Sounds good! I was able to pick a sample out of this box. I'll try one tonight and see how it is. Either way, I think it is overpriced at the equivalent to USD700.
gersonmorelli Posted March 30, 2012 Author Posted March 30, 2012 Enjoying the above mentioned cigar right now... I just wish it wasn't so darn good! Perfect construction and draw. This first third has shown a lot of creaminess and some floral. The cigar still packs a white pepper on the nose but also has the aged character of an habano. Let's see how it develops, but so far it is the best cigar for me this year. Pairing with a Martell XO.
almudawi Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 This is one of my favorite cigars and a staple in my collection.. I have a cab of 50 from 2003 which is heavenly right now.. Any aged premium quality Des Dieux is well worth the money..
joeypots Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 $700??? For a box? Is it a 50 Cabinet? Listen to Shrink. '03s are around and are very good.
tinknocker924 Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 I'm looking to get a box of 50 from 2003 too whats the box code on your box?
audio1der Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 I have a WONDERFUL box LES SEP00, but likely wouldn't pay $700 for it, even if it were a 50 cab.
Dbone Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 Damn quantitative easing is killing the dollar when I see boxes of cigars go for $1,000 LOL
gersonmorelli Posted March 30, 2012 Author Posted March 30, 2012 It is undeniably good, but too pricey for me as well.
Dbone Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 I wouldn't buy the box, unless I was able to smoke a sample. Too many good 2003 boxes still available. Are the 2003 boxes really all THAT? I've heard both sides of the coin, some love them, some say they're typical. For example, should one seek out a box from 2003 over a 2005 box by default?
khomeinist Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 It's just that 2003 cabs are being unloaded right now by online vendors. I actually prefer HDM DD from 98-2000. There is more of a creamy, floral characteristic rather than a woody profile. The 2003 cabs are priced to move and many have fallen in love. Too bad about the price for the 2000 box. I got one last year for $150. Keep looking.
PigFish Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 I too have had good experiences with the Le Hoyo line from the late ninety's to 2001. The exception for me would be the du Dauphine and the Gourmet. ... I would not pay $700 for any box of damn cigars!!! -the Pig
CaptainQuintero Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 I picked up two boxes of 2000 Des Dieux last week, fantastic cigars!
