El Presidente Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 It was one of those days. Long, spreadsheets flows. Finalising proposals. Phonecalls and e-mails everywhere. I didn't even make it to the deck It was 8pm when I sent the last correspondence and I really should have gone home. Tommy would have been asleep by the time I arrived, Ben was out with mates, Becky studying (I live in hope). I headed instead to he walk in humidor and picked out a PLPC from the open box. Went upstairs to the deck here, poured a Scotch and Soda, stood looking at the city lights and lit the PLPC. From the opeining draw it was pure honey. I know that those who smoke PLPC have on the rare ocassions hit this profile. Simply brilliance...the cigar version of sucking on fresh honeycomb. The result is euphoric. Complete peace and satisfaction. One of the best cigars I have had in a long time and a straight 97. .....and no...not every PLPC delivers like this
riazp Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 was it a aged box? I would assume so...and more importanly inquiring minds want to know...or see, pictures of your personal or at least the czar walk in! I think re reading your post you stayed at the office
Wil Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 I have had the exact same experience with a PLPC. And Rob, nice to hear you still have Eureka moments
Hemsworth Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 My mouth waters when I read posts like this.
Hemsworth Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 My mouth waters when I read posts like this. Damn...I'm too young to drool on myself!!
nick17 Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 i wish that every PLPC could be like that ... one can dream...
Dbone Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Love those moments, those are cigars you tend to remember for a long time.
ramon_cojones Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 My first sig iv was like that, went to sleep with a smile on my face and woke up the next morning wanting another. Sadly I've not had another like that again.
aavkk Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 awesome Rob, just curious if these were 04's or 07's.
Cigar Connoisseur Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Wow, you made me want to try a PLPC Prez, sometimes that stright to the point simple review makes the most impact...
El Presidente Posted February 17, 2012 Author Posted February 17, 2012 was it a aged box? I would assume so...and more importanly inquiring minds want to know...or see, pictures of your personal or at least the czar walk in! I think re reading your post you stayed at the office Code is MLO JUN 11. The cab has been very good (I have smoked a few) but this was out of this world. Will do some pics of the walk in when we have our upcoming Cigar Underground Network Party
Ken Gargett Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 not every PLPC delivers like this certainly none of the ones you've sold me.
BENN Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 certainly none of the ones you've sold me. You always make me smile, Ken.
tempbond Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 What does PLPC stand for? I'm one of those old-fashioned folks who writes out full words. Por Larrañaga Petit Coronas
SurpriseMVP Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Got a cab MLO Oct 2011. Smoked two so far. Now I will be looking for the "holy grail". Yet to pull that profile out of a PLPC. Hopefully it will happen soon.
CanuckSARTech Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Beautiful to hear, Rob. I picked up an HQ 50-cab from you last fall of these, with a May 2011 "MLO" code. I've only enjoyed two so far, and while they definitely showed promise, I didn't think they were anywhere NEAR there yet. My best guess was at least 2 to 3 years sitting time needed to bring out everything. That said, after your review here, I'll definitely sample again this spring, with hopeful wishes. Thanks for sharing. Cheers.
JSPEC Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 I have a CAB of MLO May 11...smoked 4 so far (At least I think) they show promise. On each and everyone the opening had a very slight hit of honey. Hopefully I am in for a surprise once these come of age But as I read this post I just wanna reach in my humi and grab one lol.
Schumi5 Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 This cigar continues to befuddle me. I read so many excellent reviews (a great one by the way Rob) and it has all the flavours that would suit my palate. I buy them and they have always disspointed so far. Granted I have never been able to give them the five years everyone says they need so perhaps the error is mine. Nonetheless, thanks for sharing Rob, guess I need to work on my patience.
shrink Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Code is MLO JUN 11 Unheard of. I have a 2006 cab sleeping, and they're still not quite ripe yet. This must be a byproduct of some form of intoxication.
TankerT Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 certainly none of the ones you've sold me. Well... Rob has several ratings. PE, HQ, PSP and STK (Sell to Ken)
El Presidente Posted February 17, 2012 Author Posted February 17, 2012 Unheard of. I have a 2006 cab sleeping, and they're still not quite ripe yet. This must be a byproduct of some form of intoxication. First drink of the day at the time Just a rogue shining the light I hope on the future of the cab. Certainly, the others have been good to very good but nothing approaching that.
mk05 Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 heh Rob, I think almost everyone with knowledge of PLPCs buys them to find that taste you just described circa the pre 00 - 02 cracker cabs. Alas, they have all been letdowns imo. Thanks for the heads up dear leader, it seems it's time to re-investigate.
Tashaz Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Damn...I'm too young to drool on myself!! I can assure you it has nothing to do with your first name. Haha!!
Hemsworth Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 I can assure you it has nothing to do with your first name. Haha!! Hahaha...no, obviously not. It's more to do with excessive consumption of beer than anything. I don't know why they insist on putting the hole on the wrong side of the can...
