riazp Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 (edited) Hey Fellow FoH'ers, After reading Laficion's and PigFish's threads about their beloved discontinued Habanos and how they are down to their last box or last single, and after me enjoying another sublime Diplomaticos no.4, it got me thinking why ..... ....... did they axe this? I know I know, sales figures, yaddy yaddy yadda...then a dream...Habanos FINALLY deceided to listen to the masses and ask us which 5 cigars do WE, the people, want back! So, ye the people of FoH, what would you bring back? Here are my 5 : Ramon Allones 8-9-8 Bolivar Lonsdale Diplomaticos 4 Punch RS11 Partagas SDC 1 Edited October 1, 2011 by Trevor2118 Language (abbrevation) deleted
ChanceSchmerr Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 I'd browbeat them into restoring a lot more than 5 cigars......there is a bunch I've yet to try that I lament losing all the same. But, keeping with 5, and also thinking just of cigars that I've tried.... Ramon Allones 8-9-8 - Ridiculously good El Rey Del Mundo Tainos Partagas Coronas Partags SDC 1 El Rey Del Mundo Grandes De Espana Nuff said!

CBL Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 From what I've had I'd love to see the following available in B&M again: - ERDM Grandes de Espana - Partagas SDC. No. 2 (but I'd be happy to switch it for the No. 1) - Partagas de Partagas No. 1 - Diplomaticos No. 4 - Punch Royal Selection No. 12 There's probably better ones I could choose, but these are top of mind right now
Smallclub Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 Great, an other "I've never had one but I want it back" thread + poll! Seems that discontinued cigars have become an obsession on this forum…
CBL Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 Great, an other "I've never had one but I want it back" thread + poll! Seems that discontinued cigars have become an obsession on this forum… I have to agree with you on that, a lot of people putting unfamiliar cigars on a pedestal lately. On the other side, some unfamiliar marcas are getting some well deserved attention lately.
Michel1968 Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 Great, an other "I've never had one but I want it back" thread + poll! Seems that discontinued cigars have become an obsession on this forum… Might be case of realizing the smaller gauges are getting really scarse in HSA's portfolio?
joeypots Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 Partagas Lonsdale Partagas SDC #1 ERDM Tianos Punch Super Selection #1

ChanceSchmerr Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 Great, an other "I've never had one but I want it back" thread + poll! Seems that discontinued cigars have become an obsession on this forum… This is a fair point - thats why I added my caveat - All 5 cigars I mentioned are dearly departed, but ones I also have all smoked (died and gone to heaven while doing so) and have managed to acquire at least a box of so that I don't miss out on them. It's easy for me to add a cigar like a RA Corona or Partagas Seleccion Privada, ones that I'm dying to try but have yet to have the pleasure....but then I would not be speaking from experience, simply longing instead. That said - I'm still searching the ends of the earth for cigars like RA Corona and Party Sel. Priv.....maybe once I try them, they would bump one of my top 5 down! As far as the obsession goes - I think it speaks volumes that this what we're talking about so much these days - when you consider of all that we've lost. and aes9 - Great minds, man! Every one of those 5 is top shelf in my books. If I return from the Med via California - we should meet up for a herf or something with Piggy and other South Cali boys! Us guys with good taste have to stick together!
dB69 Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 Of the ones I am currently having in my humidor: 1. Party Corona 2. Party Lonsdale 3. Party SdC#2 4. Party SdC#3 5. I cannot decide which one, Punch RS#12, QdO Gran Corona or Boli GM - they are all so very different. (I feel I must have forgotten something...)
PigFish Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 This is a fair point - thats why I added my caveat - All 5 cigars I mentioned are dearly departed, but ones I also have all smoked (died and gone to heaven while doing so) and have managed to acquire at least a box of so that I don't miss out on them. Mate... you find your way to Isla PigFish and you will try a Partagas Selection Privada!.... Oh... and a good Diplomatico #1!
PigFish Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 The list is so long and disappointing, I cannot post 1, 5 or a 105! Beyond the cigars themselves, it becomes trite to bring them up... to bemoan them and the loss. Yet... it is these cigars that I believe are the best cigars that I have ever experienced. This is what I smoke. This is what I want to talk about. These are the ones that I want to share with friends, yet cannot replace. The cigar deletion list has done more than rob the world of its best cigars. It has taken from me personally the ability to share the experience that I have worked so hard to acquire and paid so dearly for. It has taken from me the ability to gift and replace. ... it is a damn shame! FU H SA!!! -the Pig
bassman Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 The ones I would bring back have already been covered, but my question is if they were produced again, would the blend & flavor be the same as the the old versions we love?
Smallclub Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 Oh... and a good Diplomatico #1! Now you're talking! I don't miss the Upmann lonsdale, but the Diplo 1, certainly!
Stalebread Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 . . . but my question is if they were produced again, would the blend & flavor be the same as the the old versions we love? Exactly. I often wonder about this as we bemoan the loss of this cigar or that cigar. Would a resurrected version meet our expectations and memories? The on-again-off-again Bolivar Gold Medal is a case in point. The 2011 La Escepción regional edition will be another.
Stalebread Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 Now you're talking! I don't miss the Upmann lonsdale, but the Diplo 1, certainly! Ray and Frank, I'm with you guys on this one. Dip #1 is a real treat. I have, maybe, eight left from an '01 box and I cherish each one.
