Colt45 Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 ....What an unusual vitola the the QD regional...... x2 I was disappointed when I saw the pic.... Yeah guys, I know every cigar need not be thin ring or medium ring, but these just seem...... out of place.
PigFish Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 How to **** up a perfectly good cigar line? Just ask Tabacuba!!! What we really needed was another overpriced, untested robusto! All it really needs to sell is a few extra bands and nice shiny box. Does the box shine? Tabacuba has certainly become one great cigar box maker, that is for sure! Sorry for trashing a commercial thread Rob, Lisa! No one listens to me anyway!!! -LOL -the Pig
mkz Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 QdO? Yes! Robusto? No! Regional/limited? No! Conclusion? Pass!
CanuckSARTech Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 hey Toronto/ fellow CDNs, box split? If so, i would be down for a fiver to give it a try. Sure. I'd like a fiver. Count me in for a split Art I'm in for a 5r Art I'd be in for a split on this too, depending on how many ways this goes. Even just two or three singles for me, if no one else wanted a full five. Just a thought, I'd be game too.
Onsto Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Some of you guys are impossible to please! You complain that Habanos doesn't do enough to push niche brands. So some bright spark decides to produce a niche brand limited edition (I understand someone at PCC must have at least approved it, if not come up with the idea) in what is the best selling size, surely in the hope of promoting a niche brand... and you complain about it. I'm the first to agree that Habanos makes some bad decisions (Boli CE is currently #1 on my complaints list) but come on. If we just complain about everything they do, why would they listen? Sorry if this seems harsh but I just ashed an SP Sanchos all over my computer and I needed an outlet.
cigcars Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 ***What about a new variety sampler pack similar to the other Pacific Regionals on hand, for example: 2ea. Quay D'Orsay Regionals/Por Larranaga Encantos/Ramon Allones Celestiales/Punch Super Robusto/and Bolivar Regional on hand...any possibility of this? Ple-e-e-a-s-s-e!!

mkz Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Some of you guys are impossible to please! You complain that Habanos doesn't do enough to push niche brands. I hardly see the Regional Editions as a way to "push" a certain brand. Especially considering the multitudes of Punch Regional Editions being promoted the last couple of years while the original line-up of the brand is being slaughtered.
greenpimp Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 It's a brand many of us enjoy that needs promoting. It's a size that will actually sell. Honestly the complaining has gotten out of control. I smoke few robustos and would prefer another size as well, but its a start. I will at least give these a go. Maybe this will create some new fans of the Quai D'Orsay brand.
Onsto Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 The PCC Regionals that I have tried have been pretty good so far - the PL Robusto is a lovely cigar, as is the Encantos. The Juan Lopez Belicosos (can't remember what they were called) didn't float my boat but they don't all have to... The Bolivar Simones (Habanos House in Canada is owned by PCC) was a real stand out cigar and I'd love to see the blend used in a future standard release. I don't know if David Tang approves each blend personally (I'd like to think so) but if he does, then he's the man responsible for the Tang Monarchs, one of the most sought after cigars of the last 10 years and one I would really like to try. Hopefully this will be an equally interesting blend and cigar
Onsto Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 I hardly see the Regional Editions as a way to "push" a certain brand. Courtesy of Trevor's website; "Regional Edition Series In 2005, Habanos S.A. introduced the Regional Edition (Edición Regional) Series. The ten worldwide premium Global & Niche brands are excluded from this series. This leaves the seventeen local and multi-local brands for these regional editions. As these brands are not promoted worldwide, this series was seen as an ideal marketing method to promote them."
rckymtn22 Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 I would like to see PCC bring out some of the discontinued cigars as RE's. Why can the Punch SS # 2 come out as a RE next year. I am sure they would get snapped up pretty darn quick.
CigarmanTim Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 I'm in for a fiver if there are any slots left

Well, I still dont see the point of promoting a brand while digging up and burning its roots. And that is what I think HSA is doing with many of its brands. However this kinda steered into an "RE or not to RE" discussion instead to be about the original posting. To one his own! For those of you who buy. I hope you feel your money is well spent. I´ll rather spend my money on some more Coronas Claros

For those of you who buy. I hope you feel your money is well spent. I´ll rather spend my money on some more Coronas Claros You know... this is very well stated! Frankly, I am all for H SA et al producing a fantastic cigar. I hope that this is a fantastic cigar. I am not willing to bet that this will be a fantastic cigar and that is what separates me from being a buyer. What i like about the aforementioned comment is that there are wonderful QdO Coronas there now for those willing to try them. Perhaps this gets people to try the Coronas Claro as a result... that would be a good thing. On the other hand the reputation of H SA limited products is what I have stated (generally) in my sig tag (subject to debate of course). So what have we then? You buy the overpriced turkey (if it is that) of the new H SA limited product and if it is a turkey, then we have people never wanting to try the Coronas Claro due to the bad experience they had with the brand. Knowing the repution of past products and current products I cannot help but see this as a net negative. Only if the new product is well conceived and great, an eye opener, and worth the money does this help promote the existing product line. What are the odds in that? My 2 cts. -the Pig
tmac77 Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Well we have done it again. Rob sends a pic from the warehouse to promote a new RE and get some interest going and we completely trash the original intent of the thread. One of the many reasons that I love the FOH forum so much. Well done one and all. At least our constructive comments on the topic are better than any you will see in a parliamentary debate.

Michel1968 Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 hmmm... feeling somewhat ambivalent about this release. Yes I do like seeing Qd'O get some more attention but as Pigfish wrote, a disappointing experience with this one might ruin an otherwise lovely Corona. Or the other way around, if it performs just above expectation many eyes might be opened to try more from this charming marca. (fascinating to see people not want to pay for anything 'obscure' but willing to pay a lot more for the same obscurity but now pimped up a bit) At my local shop I got some reports the Fonseca Regionales we got this year actually boosted the sales of the normal range a bit. Perhaps this is also true with the UK Flor de Cano Regionales?? Someone?? For now I choose to be optimistic about this release! (too many remarks of getting a grumpy old man lately)
CBL Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 If these are priced like the Enchantos were and approachable young, it could be a pretty interesting and popular release. People love them some Robustos!
CaptainQuintero Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 God you guys are like a bunch of old washer women! Count yourselves lucky, at least you have QDO! In the UK not one store even stocks QDO. I was even told by one store that if I wanted something mild then just smoke a Juan Lopez! hmmm... feeling somewhat ambivalent about this release. (too many remarks of getting a grumpy old man lately) The UK FDC is delicious, I had doubts over the size and price but managed to find some at a decent price and discovered they are exceptional smokes. But they are the only FDC cigar in the UK, so I would imagine other sales of FDC has risen from 0 to 0 lol. The RE has sold like hotcakes so I would assume that down the line the FDC marka may be getting a regular production
eman67 Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Why would you not want more cuban options? I love QDO and will buy the robo..pretty excited too.
landhoney Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Yep, if they are priced reasonably and the reviews are remotely good, I will be down for a box, or at least splitting one initially with a buddy. I like/own other QdO's and these (providing they're of good quality and price) have a place next to them in my humi. First new QdO in........how many decades.........??? Pretty cool to me.
Manny Sotelo Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 Rob is at the warehouse chosing stock and asked me to post this photo , they look nice even if the photo is a bit blured Mine.... Lisa I need a box, lmk!
almudawi Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 I am actually looking forward to that particular release. As many botls on FoH I am a sucker for QdO coronas and wonder what affect would the vitola have on the blend.. presuming that the RE blend would be inline with the original blend recipe
