cottierm Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 I am all with you on that Riaz! (Especially on the ERDM Choix Supreme). My personal experience with CC is rather unusual. I started smoking them in mid-1990 after an 'apprenticeship' of six months with the owner of my local cigar shop in non-Cuban cigars. After that shift it was only Cuban cigars for me up to 2001 when I relocated to Britain for a number of years. My wife being a non-smoker and the UK prices being so outrageous (at least for my small means at the time), I abandoned this passion. It took me ten years and a short stay on a Cuban island (my first visit but I hope not the last!) in April of this year to rediscover 'The Product'. Since then I have been in a state of amazement. Yes, there are some good, even excellent, stuff (new and old) out there. But how many good friends of my youth had disappeared! The entire Flor de Cano line (especially the Short Churchills)! LGC Cetros (thank god we still have, but for how long, the Medaille d'Or no. 2). Gone the Partagas and PL Lonsdales. Gone the Punch Petit Punch, Super Seleccion nos. 1 and 2, and now the Royal Seleccion no. 11. Gone the Lonsdales and now Coronas Extra of RG (both old-time favourites of mine). I still remember with tears in my eyes (no kidding!) the few wonderful R&J Clemenceau I put my hands on (and smoked) in the early 90's; gone since at least 87. What about the Sanchos!!! And now the Molinos! Something is really wrong in the minds of Habanos SA. C'est vrai Michel, One thing i'll do personally, No wasting money on LE's and RE's they are ovepriced dissapointment, and i'll start discovering new habanos brands, my first step is I bought a box of ERDM choix supremes. Probably i'll get SLR A's next. baby steps I guess...you want to talk about habannos decapetating brands...Diplomaticos is a prime example. I'm STILL PISSED about the deletion of the dip 4 and 5
mkz Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 How disgraceful! Bolivar CE, Punch PC and LGC Tainos??? WTF!!!
DrunkenMonkey Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 Jesus Christ. BCE?? Who the hell doesn't love that cigar?! So the 50cabs will still be made --for now?
FireDigger Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 Jesus Christ. BCE?? Who the hell doesn't love that cigar?! So the 50cabs will still be made --for now? The BCE cab was cut back in 2009.
riazp Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 Jesus Christ. BCE?? Who the hell doesn't love that cigar?! So the 50cabs will still be made --for now? 50 cab of BCE was discontinued in 2009.
Pilgrims Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 Although it isn't the point I love the directness of the video...will you (Rob) get a response? Hope the Trinidad Robusto T thing is not true...until that you couldn't be blamed for thinking every brand will just have a robusto and a short, wide robusto...what's the problem with longer (& thinner) smokes?
bassman Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 Gonna miss the BCEs, but not for a while. I have cabs from 02, 07 & 08 and boxes from 09 & 10. Better get some more anyways. And no cabs of BPCs?

mm12 Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 WTF? They did two rounds of deletions this year? I thought it was bad enough when they got rid of all the LCDH releases earlier this year, and now they pull this? The BCE is one of my favorite cigars, and Trinidad Robusto T is hands down the best, most consistent robusto in HSA's catalog at the moment. Well I guess they just had to make room for the latest giant 54 ring gauge Cohiba that comes in special boxes of 10. I was looking forward to a couple of this year's releases, but I guess I'm going to have to stock up on BCE's, Punch PCs, Tainos, and Robusto Ts instead. Before long, the entire contents of my humidor will probably be discontinued cigars. Between the Partagas SdC's, the Diplos, the BGM's, the Officio's, this years deletions, and the ones that will surely follow, I reckon I'll be there by 2015 or so.
j0z3r Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 This just disappoints me in so many ways. Guess I need to get a couple cabs of Mag46 in the locker. Utter BS.
aavkk Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 I'm still not yet sure if I'm more pissed about the 50 cab deletions or the BCE's. The 50 cab is Cuba, it's the way the finest cigars in the world fully express their maturity. And the BCE!! Along with the BPC I would argue till I'm blue that these are the best representation of the brand. If pushed into a corner I would easily nip the Royal Corona AND Inmensos before the BCE. Whatever, I'm with you Ross and look forward (with trepidation) to the changing of the guard.
Sir Diggamus Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 No more Corona Extras?????? WTF?? Just sad news.
DrunkenMonkey Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 The BCE cab was cut back in 2009. Oh. So they're completely dead. How could they do that? I always had the idea that BCE's were popular cigars. Prez? Lisa? Smithy? Didn't BCE's sell well? Can any of you comment on that?
aes8 Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 Open letter to all the idiots running this organization (?) Have a lovely day with your donkey c*ck cigars. With love, -Shlomo Best Post Of The Month!
kfurlong Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 This sucks. As soon as I decide to get into CC they start discontinuing cigars I haven't even tried yet.
mazolaman Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 This sucks. As soon as I decide to get into CC they start discontinuing cigars I haven't even tried yet. I have similar feelings,in that I am working my way round different brands, different vitola. There will be nothing left but short fatties. Personally most sad about molinas and fonseca no 1.....both not mainstream but good cigars. Also, was the rumour not flying around that Boli Gold Medal would also go?
El Presidente Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 Oh. So they're completely dead. How could they do that? I always had the idea that BCE's were popular cigars. Prez? Lisa? Smithy? Didn't BCE's sell well? Can any of you comment on that? BCE's are always solid sellers for us. We would be be an exception. 35% of HSA sales are airport Duty Free . You woun't see a box of BCE there excluding 2-3 places. I would put online retail at 30% of all Habanos sales. It has been the last bastion for the BCE. Leaving 35% B&M sales. Unfortunately through legislation restricting retail showing area's etc/ 90% of B&M selling Habanos would not even carry the BCE. What the HSA Morons do not understand is that when airport Duty Free is banned worldwide (and it will happen within 7 years) they will be looking at their online and remaining B&M movers as the holy grail. By that time their prime customers would have abandoned them and I won't be far behind.
Trevor2118 Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 (edited) Have the list on the website - reproduced here. melies Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 So if this list is 100% confirmed, it means no more robusto T's and no more Robusto extra? aren't those kind of new? and the BPC and BCE? Is Habanos business plan for 2020 is to sell shirts and perfume? You know Habanos Cool water
jedipastor Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 This is the worst deletion year yet. Holy crap, I can't even believe they are killing the BCE, the Tainos, and the Trini Rob Extra (and maybe T). WTF. The small format deletions are a real shame, but it doesn't surprise me given past deletions. The VR casualties are a bit of a surprise, though. The Bolivar Gold Medal is already gone as well, right? If the Trini Rob T is really gone as well, then I'm out. The only HSA cigars left that I'd want are the BPC and Mag 46 cabs ... oh wait, nevermind ...
Omskakas Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 Like everyone here, I've been watching these deletions with dismay for the past few years. I'm wondering if there is anything we can actually do? There are 9,000 members of this community. If we were act, especially reaching out to the broader community at our local B&Ms, we could potentially mobilize thousands more. I know HSA are obstinate to say the least, but would a letter-writing campaign - actually paper letters mailed in - make a difference? After all, if what they see is sales numbers (which, sadly, go up as they focus on "special" and "limited" overprices cigars) they think everything's just fine. Has this been done before, and to no effect? Thoughts? You can join my personal boycott against all overpriced LE/RE/Behikes and like. If we all do that... Well maybe nothing happens.
