mazolaman Posted July 24, 2011 Posted July 24, 2011 Most Montes will give some chocolate. Sweetness for me in San Christbal.....more honey caramel.

Take a look at the Prez and Ken video review of the H. Upmann 48 LE. I don’t think you can get any more chocolate in a cigar than that… Btw, I love smoking the Monte .2, but I wouldn’t describe it as chocolate. More like coffee cream. cheers
dB69 Posted July 24, 2011 Posted July 24, 2011 Cohiba Maduro 5 Magicos and Ramon Allones Small Club Coronas come to my mind immediately when thinking about chocolate taste in a cigar.
cigarmonologues Posted July 24, 2011 Posted July 24, 2011 I generally find that a (good) VR Famosos will have a nice, chocolatey middle third. Nice bitter-sweet, high cocoa chocolate - the proper stuff.
laficion Posted July 24, 2011 Posted July 24, 2011 Let's get down to the real nitty gritty. Sorry, but I really like chocolate.
Sir Diggamus Posted July 24, 2011 Posted July 24, 2011 I'll add a +1 to the RASCC and VR Famosos. After a few years the Small Club Coronas get a nice chocolate edge accompanied by a rich fruitiness (think dried cherries). All of the cigars I have tried in the Vegas Robaina have had a little chocolate but the Famosos and Classicos seem to have the most to me, rich mocha coffee and dark chocolate.
Ellery Posted July 24, 2011 Posted July 24, 2011 Im with the famosos, but the Grand Hyatts do look tasty

Personally I have found the most chocolate in Mag 46s and I mean by a long shot; just milk chocolate waves
Maron76 Posted July 24, 2011 Posted July 24, 2011 Even though they are NC, the Camacho Corojo has great chocolate flavors IMHO. I always try to keep them in my ever-growing rotation.
n2advnture Posted July 24, 2011 Posted July 24, 2011 SP Belis (although it's cocoa instead of chocolate)
cigcars Posted July 24, 2011 Posted July 24, 2011 Though it may be closer to "honeyed" flavor, you can't go wrong with a REGULAR production Por Larranaga. It's a true tragedy that you can't find lonsdale sizes anymore, so probably petite corona size may be what would have to be settled for. I'm afraid those larger belicoso Regionals too much smoke like empty air
sblevit Posted July 24, 2011 Posted July 24, 2011 Monty D is the most chocolately cigar I've ever smoked. . . if you can find them for a reasonable price definitely worth trying.
Ginseng Posted July 24, 2011 Posted July 24, 2011 Most Montes will give some chocolate.Sweetness for me in San Christbal.....more honey caramel. Interesting. The SCdlH La Fuerza consistently give me molasses notes. Quite unique but not at all chocolatey. And what kind of chocolate are you looking for? Cocoa, baking, bittersweet, semisweet, milk? Various cigars are reminiscent of the many manifestations of chocolate. Monty D is the most chocolately cigar I've ever smoked. . . if you can find them for a reasonable price definitely worth trying. Agreed. An unusual cigar and one that I'm glad I socked away a few for posterity. Wilkey
shrink Posted July 24, 2011 Posted July 24, 2011 Monty D is the most chocolately cigar I've ever smoked. . . if you can find them for a reasonable price definitely worth trying. That was my first thought... Monte D's. Hard to come by these days. My second thought... Monte Sublimes EL 2008.
NJP Posted July 24, 2011 Posted July 24, 2011 Bolivar Petit Belicosos have a fair chocolate note Cheers.
rhodges Posted July 24, 2011 Posted July 24, 2011 Wow just watched the recommended review on the Upmann 48 now my keyboard is covered in drool. A cab of these just got moved towards the top of the list
Wicky Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 I was pleasantly surprized by the amount of sweet chocolate flavor in a Oliva V Robusto I smoked a few days ago. It was right upfront and continued to about the last third.
frenchkiwi Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 monte no.2 & no.4 cohiba maduro5 line many ELs including recently Mag 48 and to a lesser extent Boli Petit Belicoso ... this is one case where you can almost trust what you see, the maduro wrappers *generally* add a more cocoa flavour to cubans. (so monte no4s with darker wrappers will have a bit more of this than lighter wrappers, generally).
Figaro Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 - Cohiba Genios - Cohiba Magicos - Cohiba Secretos - Montecristo No.2 - Montecristo Grand Edmundo EL2010 - H.Upmann Magnum 48 EL2009 - Bolivar Petit Belicosos EL2009
