Had this question posed to me by a new member earlier today. While I gave my opinion it is far better to get the input of the members as always.

So two questions:

Which is the Robusto that is fuller in body?

Which Robusto do you currently consider the best?

Cheers and thanks! :perfect10:

Rob,

When you said you would start a poll for me, I was surprised. When I saw that you did it in less then 10 minutes, I was in disbelief. Thanks a million. I look forward to hearing everyone's opinion and purchasing the winner.

Sure, it's all sweet and innocent (like taking a cigarette in prison), until he starts "asking" you how many boxes of the poll winner(s) you'd like.

Tough one. None of these are all that full-bodied, really. I went with the VR Famoso, next would be the PSD4/BRC at roughly a tie, followed by the TRT/CoRo probably. Whenever I smoke a PSD4 I'm surprised that so many people list it among the strongest of the Cubans ... it's just a touch over medium to me. But I guess my palate is younger than many here.

The "favorite" was a bit easier. Although I love my BRCs to no end, the Trini Rob T is one of the best Habanos out there imvho. VRFs are great with some age, and CoRos and PSD4s are great when you get a good one (which for me has been seldom enough that I'm not bothering with them atm).

I haven't smoked all of these an awful lot, but my vote for the fullest and my fav are the one in the same... BRC :spotlight:

I've smoked through an '08 and '09 box and hardly ever disappointed. The Bolivar profile is one for me which is blended very well and is distinct from many other.

Have a box of HQ Choix Supreme's. Cant be the strongest (guess) but a nice mild-medium cigar that is smooth and enjoyable. How about you Rob, whats your thoughts?

The fullest bodied and lethal robusto I have had is the Juan Lopez Seleccion 2 from 07/08. I agree that when they are fresh they have a zing to them.

Most others fall in that medium bodied profile with a few stretching to the lighter side of medium full.

Cubans pride themselves in achieving balance in their cigars and strong cigars are really not enjoyed by many there.

I'm really loving the Trinidad right now.

But, I nearly choked (trying not to laugh) when I read "Open Crap" ... yeah...

I wonder if they just didn't buy some seconds from the Macanudo factory, threw some Montecristo bands on them, and proclaim them to be Cubans.

Thanks for all the input. My Cuban experience is very limited to just a few brands - Cohiba, RyJ, Partagas & Montecristo. So I look forward to trying something new.

Just to clarify, I am looking for full flavor :spotlight: , not full of nicotine :P

I hardly ever smoke robustos. Most of them are underwhelming in my eyes. Yet I have always enjoyed the JL #2. They seem to be a consistently good robusto, as far as robustos go. While this does not really address your question, the only robusto that I know that really has a kick, is the Hoyo Petit Robusto which I happen to like very much. These are firecracker cigars... at least the stockpile that I have, mostly now dated '06.

In order to show my solidarity with my friends at H SA, so that I may be supportive of the new cigars, in brightly colored and abundantly marketed in Izod, 80's vintage colors, I will be the sole voter for the Monte Open Crap. Albeit, I have never and will likely never smoke one!

I ask my friends this question. Can they really be worse than the hoards of over produced and underwhelming masses of robustos that they make now? I know... I am the one razorback javelina amongst all those fatted hogs destined to become bacon!

In a strange turn of events,I find myself agreeing with Mr Porcine.

I now tend to smoke around 42 gauge..as the size/flavour ratio is good for me.

However, the only stand out for me in the list is the Bolivar, which I would smoke every day.

I don't always smoke Robustos, but when I do, I prefer Trini T's.

Tom, that sounds like the perfect habanos commercial! the most interesting man on FoH :lookaround:

I voted for BRC at the Fullest robusto, and my favorite, PSD4 obviously.

I must say of all the sizes, I have smoked a ton of robustos from 04 till now and for me it's really hard to nail down. Some years the PSD4's are great fresh, others the JL#2's are really spot on and I've had some great RASS, some young and some with +5yrs which are a totally diff but beautiful animals. I have not even mentioned the CoRo which in the years mentioned above I've prob only smoked maybe half a box worth because they're a little to rich for my blood but for every one I've obtained they have been magnificant specimens with the exception of a few but that can be said for all the above. I guess in the end my fav robusto would be the JL#2. Right now they're strong black coffee, little pepper, rich tobacco, my first examples were just as consistent just not as full in body but they were like smoking lushious silken tobacco. I've had as many boxes of JL#2's as I've had RASS or PSD4's and the JL#2 has been really awesome as far as consistency is concerned, it's something that I grab when I know I want a nice satsfying cigar, any time of day.

^ Great post Olotti

Which makes this a tough decision

When I get a PSD4 that is on it's probably my all time favorite Robusto. As mentioned, some years have been better than others.

I've also enjoy RASS, Coro's as well. Recent RASS have been great IMO.

I enjoy the SLR Regio profile and the J-Lo No.2's lateley as well
