El Presidente Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 We are seeing beetles in cigars 1-2 boxes a month. To be correct, what we are seeing is the remnant beetle hole in an odd cigar with the beetles well and truly gone. Pre-2005 the episode of beetles would be 10 fold. When is the last time that you have seen beetles or a beetle hole in a cigar?
Puros Y Vino Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 A year ago. A single LGC No 2. Froze everything. I still have isolated a dozen sticks in tupperware to make sure. No further infestations thought it bothers me that I never found the beatle after cleaning out the humidor.
Ryan Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 For regular production it's been years. Brought home a few in custom rolls from Havana in February but that's to be expected. A certain cigar shop in a boutique hotel in Habana Vieja has taken to carpeting the floor of their smoking room with tobacco leaves. It looks very nice but understandably the place is crawling with them. I won't name the place but it can be worked out from the picture.
Ken Gargett Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 balcony? yesterday? pouring out of the box you brought for a video?
tmac77 Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 I was too young to see them live but I did meet George Harrison's mum at our school fair
El Presidente Posted June 13, 2011 Author Posted June 13, 2011 balcony? yesterday? pouring out of the box you brought for a video? You are a Prima facie Idiot
CaptainQuintero Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 Never seen one luckily, not even in my 1995 and 2001 Quintero panatelas
Ken Gargett Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 You are a Prima facie Idiot you told me to post more. you don't get it both ways!
android Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 Just this month alive and kicking at a LCDH in Mexico...one while I was seated at the bar and on the couch lounging.
Murri Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 Saw one about a year ago. That was a real Holy Sh** moment. Never found the cigar it came from, was not a Cuban. Froze everything in the Humi. Now freeze all new purchases before putting in storage.
First Lady Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 I was too young to see them live but I did meet George Harrison's mum at our school fair you crack me up
Habanos2000 Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 been years, fortunately. I don't freeze my cigars any longer, as I used to, based on hearing HSA was doing it for me. But perhaps I should reconsider?
jkljkl Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 For cc's its been years and years. But last check of my crappy nc stockpile which i rarely smoke, i got five star beetle hotels happening!
SCgarman Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 Fall of last year in a box of VR Famosos. One hole near the foot in one of the cigars. I placed the whole box in the freezer for treatment. This was the first time for a box of CC's.
aes8 Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 I've never seen beatles in CC but 3 years ago I saw some with some NC crap I used to purchase. I put each box in its own zip lock bag so unless there are some mutant strand of PVC eating beatles I should be safe or at least only risk losing a single box.
capecc Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 Recently in an Illusione Culebra, hole only. Never seen an actual bug.
mm12 Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 I saw one beetle hole maybe 3 years ago in a box of HDM Regalos. The box was half empty, the cigars were a bit overfilled, and I had another box, so I just tossed the whole thing. Nothing since.
davidl Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 Never, or maybe once in the last five years. Rob - would a poll be more suitable for this question...so the results get quantified..?
