El Presidente Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 With FOH LIVE TV to hit the forum before long we had better get together some idea of what a live program of 1 hour will actuallly cover. We know we are on a winner because our lawyers "Low, Ball & Lynch" have strongly advised against it 1. OK so a program will be roughly an hour. 2. It will be unedited (Hence lawyers advice ) 3. You can view it live or download. 4. There will be member interaction be it via text or telephone (you can ask questions, make statements etc). 5. We will obiously review a cigar each week/fortnight (not sure yet as to if it will be weekly or fortnightly at this stage). 6. We will let you know in advance what we are reviewing so you can join the reviews with us from the same box code wherever possible. 7. There will be drinking (not reckless drinking as Ken is prone to do). 8. There will be interviews/guests. No one important. 9. There may be product placement. Ken is currently negotiating with a clothing firm. Now most importantly....what do YOU want to see in terms of format ideas as well as issues to be covered over the first couple of months (lets get a list going). We want to have fun...we want to investigate, educate, infuriate and avoid those who try to litigate Let's get this done. Lets get some format ideas and a list of segments and issues to cover. On behalf of Ayala and Gargett ....we thank you.
El Presidente Posted July 21, 2010 Author Posted July 21, 2010 PS Best time of the week to screen it? Put down your best two times (day and rough time) with your ideas.

Guest rob Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 9. There may be product placement. Ken is currently negotiating with a clothing firm. Oh, please God.... please tell me its not a deal with Speedos.
habone Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 I will... Turn on, Tune in, Drop out!!! Any day any time...I will be watching
Smooth Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 Interviews... Id love to hear the thoughts of members such as Trevor, Nino, Guy etc. Obviously depends on time constraints and time zones linking up. Another segment: 'Ken's wine of the week' News: Whats been happening at Czars and habanos (new releases etc).
gersonmorelli Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 As I mentioned on previous thread, a quick follow up review on how past EL and RR are performing. Looking forward to watch it!
OZCUBAN Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 PSBest time of the week to screen it? Put down your best two times (day and rough time) with your ideas. The weekend would be good will suit all No but seriously I do shift work so whatever time is picked would only be good to me half the time You cannot please everybody,I will be more than happy for the download should i miss the show LIVE And i guess we are subject as you guys do not want to be doing a show in the middle of the night ,even that might help the Rating or Classification MA 18+ Looking forward to the pilot ,if it as good as Melbourne it will be a riot Cheers OZ
semery74 Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 Great idea! I think the future measure of success for you guys is how much do you currently edit out of your Review Tastings. Not only how much, but what level of dialogue is edited. As an example, I think you don't want to be caught in a situation where you are defaming anyone or company on a live broadcast. As for ideas, perhaps you would want to finally perform that blind tasting of rinsed cigars.

Excellent idea WRT to having some of the movers and shakers in the Habanos world on as guests.
Habanakane21 Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 I'm very excited about this! Can't wait for it to happen. The best time for me to watch this live would be between 6pm-10pm Pacific time. But, of course I'd catch the video anytime. Here are a few things I'd be interested in. No particular order - History behind certain brands - Beer parings with cigars - Rum Parings too - Tour of the wherehouse - Tour of the shop - Maybe have members submit video's or pic's of their local cigar hangout and show them on the show. Then pick winner for best video and award them with a gift. - How to develop a palate. - How to rate cigars properly - Interviews with cigar makers. The process from seed to shipping. - Box Code tutorial - Counterfeit Corner All for now...Aloha

Colt45 Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 I don't know what it takes to produce such a program..... Does it require a static set, or can you broadcast from various sites. Is it live only, or can you incorporate pre-recorded segments into the broadcast? Live from the humidor / warehouse could actually be... live. Or to make it easier, if possible, pre-record a short segment that shows the process and incorporate that into the live broadcast. Broadcasting from various locations might be nice if possible - beachside, poolside, etc. A segment on Dean's coffee operation. Recurring segments are something to look forward to as long as you don't have to work too hard to find something to fill them with. Overall, I'd rather see a half hour program once a month than an hour show weekly that had a lot of "filler".
Habanos2000 Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 1 hour could be a lot more time to fill than you think, especially if it's on a regular basis. As far as features, I would enjoy a segment on how the FOH cigar line is being developed. What different leaves are being used, from what region, and how they affect the flavor of the cigar. Ken's whine of the week, I mean WINE of the week, should be interesting. Any news out of Cuba that's relevant to our interests.
Puros Y Vino Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 I love the idea! What you listed sounds like a great start. Being able to download it would be great. Though it you air it in Oz prime time I would technically be watching a show from the future.
Habanakane21 Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 Ditto Habanakane21's list. Howzit braddah! [/quote ho...howzit braddah LeafLover!! Just cruisin' in SoCal...livin' life with cigars, beer and da beach!! a hui hou
jquest63 Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 Revolving Topics: 1. Cigar Pairings: Food and/or drinks 2. FOH Custom Blend Live Group Tastings 3. Cigar Reviews 4. Top 10 lists - could be list of anything, like Letterman show 5. Cigar Industry Interviews 6. Q and A with Habanos S. A. personnel 7. Cigar Accessory Reviews 8. Latest Cigar Industry News 9. Quarterly top smoking cigars by format Time: 8:00 pm EST any day of week works great for me
jsd Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 Pretty much everything I could think of has already been mentioned. I will definitely tune in. Fantastic idea!
Wicky Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 Pigfish's Pelosi quote comes to mind. "We have to pass the bill... So that you can'a...find out what's in it." Great idea Rob!
Jesuscookies Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 Lol... Great idea. I'm gonna say cigars and alcohol.. Anything else would just be details. Time...Fogget about it. That's for the anal retentive. Put that **** up when you are done, we'll watch. Smoke, drink, enjoy, and forget about the rest.
chinamike233 Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 are you allowed to do a live auction for a nice box of cigars on the broadcast? it COULD be done for a local charity or something? just a thought

I'm thinking grainy war correspondent-esque satellite phone dial ins from some war torn area on the gold coast, from a fishing boat etc.
