Stalebread Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 Has anyone mentioned a side-by-side comparison? Smoke two different cigars -- same vitola, different brands. Take a puff from cigar A. Cleanse palate. Puff from cigar B. Discuss. And so on. (But something like this would have to be edited otherwise it could get a bit tedious.) Cigar Dissection. Cut apart cigar and examine leaf. How much of this. How much of that. Maybe another comparison doing two different cigars to see how the leaves and proportions differ. Wilkey comes to mind for a project/segment like this. Seems to me that an hour is a pretty large format to fill. I mean, I love the video reviews you all do but there is a reason they are edited. An hour-long, un-edited, un-scripted show might be tough to do and tough to watch. Just sayin . . .

I have a feeling the most entertaining content is edited out of the video reviews The friendly banter is all part of FOH I say and also its greatest appeal. One hour with a decent format should prove to be very popular with Cigar lovers worldwide...

One hour with a decent format should prove to be very popular with Cigar lovers worldwide... Yeah, you're most likely right. I just know that I'm not very patient sometimes and have the attention span of a dog in the woods. I've listened to some audio podcasts that seem to drag on and on, then my mind wanders and I end up missing the best parts. But that's my problem, not Rob's or FOH's. In any case, I'm looking forward to the program, whataever shape it takes. .
El Presidente Posted July 22, 2010 Author Posted July 22, 2010 Don't worry. I hate being bored! 30 minute video podcast is probably about right. If it runs over so be it. The cigar review in the timeframe is the hardest part.
OZCUBAN Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 Hi Rob, The time frame you mention is probably the best option for you guys,I would just play it by ear ,as in some shows might run over, and some may not ,also i thought that putting in pre recorded segments might not be possible ,not sure on equipment and technology involved, may be extra material could be available on the downloaded version a "Directors Cut if you will " Just my 2c worth ,it will no doubt be entertaining any way Cheers OZ
mazolaman Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 Great idea! A couple of ideas- you could have members as " reporters",reviewing their local cigar smoking bars or meeting places, even their local CDHabanos, comparing prices and selections available. I love to read while smoking a cigar,so an occaisional book review,or a film review. Some explanaitions on the difference between the cigars that are different prices, covering construction, leaves used etc. Could be an excuse for a trip to Cuba,to the growing regions, factories, and round Cuba itself, just to give a taster of the island.
OZCUBAN Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 One question is the server going to be up for all this extra traffic??
