El Presidente Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 I was asked this morning by the good woman what I would like for Christmas. I get asked every year and every year I say I need nothing and every year I an told that is not acceptable. I have no idea. She will ask me again next week. I assume many of us are in the same position. Can we create a blokes list of great gift ideas. Keep the price sub $300 (I don't care how inexpensive) and be as specific as possible. Lets get some interesting stuff in the list
SamuraiJack Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 One of those things, how specific do you get to be I'd ask for a new bait casting reel. One around $300 would be sweet.
anacostiakat Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 Here is a site that should be on your list!
rallones Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 A straight razor and all necessary accoutrements to use it. That's what I'm asking for.
laficion Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 Here is a site that should be on your list! Jim, for 300 Dollars worth, Rob may risk blowing a tire
jquest63 Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 Guayabera- comfortable and the pockets come in very handy
jquest63 Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 Area heater - for those cold winter day/nights smoking the garage
BigGuns Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 A straight razor and all necessary accoutrements to use it. That's what I'm asking for. A great suggestion - taking your time to shave by preparing with oil, warm lather brushed on, etc. is something to be treasured (I enjoy it) Also consider: a nice pen (montblanc, cartier, caran d'ache - some models can be found in the right places for <$300) new leather/textile coat for the motor bike new lighter (Dupont Xtend) Pair of nice shoes nice pair of sunglasses Macallan Fine Oak 21 yo
Colt45 Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 I know you have a nice camera, but a smaller true pocket camera - one that you can carry easily would be nice -- if you don't already have one. Some other thoughts would be music CDs and books - art books are nice, and I personally enjoy books on classic "fashion" photography. I have some on Hoyningen Huene and Horst P. Horst. I'm looking into getting something on Edward Steichen. Plus as these type of books are full of pictures, they'd be right up your alley.
ChanceSchmerr Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 Macallan Fine Oak 21 yo I was going to say MacAllan 18yr....but 21 works too!
perfectform Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 Prez, you rummy... Appleton 30 yr old of course!
FlyFishingDude Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 You've got a great woman, great job, live in a great place only thing you need is to adopt a great 52 year old kid........me. I even make coffee.......
dicko Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 X2 sunnies maybe a couple of rugby jerseys just to wear outside/casual settings
paesano Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 BTW, thanks for asking! I'm already looking for these so I'll post here first. I want these REAL bad too.
bunburyist Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 most of the stuff these guys do is over $300, but sure you can find something here. Those 'weekender' bags are where the action is. Proper leather luggage, none of this mincing about with a case on wheels to save your fairy arms. Could use the smaller ones as gym/golf type bags I guess. I've got a briefcase and the 'portfolio' thing from them, and they're top quality. The folio is excellent for meetings where you just have a few reports or summat. Think that's around $300. Wallets as well and all that sort of stuff. Plus, it's all handmade in England, so naturally the workmanship is unrivalled anywhere in the known universe, and probably beyond
Ken Gargett Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 Prez, you rummy...Appleton 30 yr old of course! good luck finding it and even beter luck finding it for under $300. first appointment with your local divorce lawyer usually free. there's a bargain. just out of interest, did you ask her what she wanted?
Colt45 Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 just out of interest, did you ask her what she wanted? He didn't remember her birthday, do you really think he'll remember Christmas? Hey, there you go - some kind of daily planner or such. Just make sure it's got a wristband so it can't be lost.......
