For those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, the colder months are just around the corner. It will soon be time to bundle up, step in to the garage, fire up a heater and light up a short smoke. Anyone lucky enough to have a man cave, congrats. But I'm sure many of us Cigar Eskimos will look to stock up now on shorter smokes to get us through the winter.

So what is smoking well in current stock PC's and Half Coronas? Chime on in! For the moment, the water's fine!

Just got a box of Oct '07 Punch Petit Punch that are amazing for the size. Other than that, I don't think you can ever go wrong with Bolivar Coronas Junior...and 07 Punch PC del Punch are also fantastic smokes. My 08 Siglo I's are still a little off.

edit: whoops, how could I forget the Reyes...those too.

Monte 5's

Partagas Shorts

Bolivar Corona Juniors

Trindad Reyes

SCDH El Principe

Dip 5's

Cohiba Siglo I's

Some of the BEST 30-40 minute cigars known to man. Great for the cold weather and if time allows, you can double up and taste a couple of different marcas while in the "Man Cave".

PC's: Por Larranaga, Bolivar and Diplomatico

Por Larranaga - Long time favorite, 08's have some punch, complex and are quite enjoyable, only complaint recently is several with tight cold draws requiring unplugging with tool

Bolivar - Rich, with a roboust finish

Diplomaticos - Dependable, rich, not complex but satisfying

Diplomaticos 4 - The most honest cigar around IMO. The ones I got from 2006 is superb!

Punch Petit Coronas - Sweet tobacco and baked bread. I love them!! My 2007´s are to die for.

Punch Petit Punch - Sweet and spicy. Yes Ken! These are great little buggers!!

Bolivar Petit Coronas - Complex, strong and rich flavours. Might need some ageing...

I smoked an '07 Ramon Allones Small Club Corona yesterday - to my taste, still not ready. Earth and raisin with a smooth chocolaty

mouth feel early, it flattened out fairly quickly.

My first choice in a minuto would be the Bolivar CJ as has been mentioned, and you've also been given some nice PCs as well.

Partagas Short, Bolivar Coronas Junior, Montecristo 5

Which reminds me - I need to get more of the first two. Anyone know of a reputable place that recently slashed prices like he was selling big screen TVs???? I'm CRAZY!!!!

I agree Colt, my Feb 07 boxes were great fresh and now they have slipped into a little bit of a sick period. I'll revisit them in the Spring and see how they are coming along.

I'm not sure what current stock is out there? But I have enjoyed:

Monte No.5's from 06 are really good. Have some 07's and only tried 1. The 07's are going to need age and may not be as good as those 06's.

Bolivar Corona JR from 06. These are really good and I would highly recomend if you like the Bolivar profile.

Partagas Shorts from 06. Another great little powerhouse of a cigar. I smoked some 08's and they are good too.

Por Larranaga Petit Coronas from 08 are good and should only get better with age.

Siglo I's from Late 07 are comming around nicely now and should get better with age.

Partagas Petit Coronas Especails Smoked some 08's that were very good for being so young.

Another that I've been thinking of trying that is in a similar size but different vitola is the Cuaba Divinos. Does that have any place in this discussion? Is it a worthy alternative to that which has been mentioned above? I believe it would satisfy the criteria of the OP.

When good the Cuaba Divinos is an excellent assition to the above lists/ However , too often they are plagued with construction issues. Drives me insane :hungry:

If you know where to look, there are killer Partagas TPCs around from ENE 99. Very strong with an unsweetened chocolate flavor.

I also live in the North East USA and smoke a lot of PC's during the winter.

I like variety so I have a rotation of several choices depending upon my mood.

Everything I smoke is new. All on my list have been consistently excellent with very few single exceptions.

Each one has a different flavor profile so I pick according to my mood.

So in no particular order

Sig II

PL PC

Boli PC

Punch PC

Dip 4

and the smaller/quicker but great tasting smokes..

Trini Reyes

RASCC

There is another Mareva that is in my mix which seems to generally get over looked on the forums.

I think it is sort of a reverse discrimination as this is a very common stick.

I personally always had very good success with these. When you get a good one they are a joy.

I include the ..

Monte 4

Good luck,

DSS :buddies:

If you take time into account as opposed to vitola, then I would say Partagas connie 3's.
